Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the continued assistance. I have placed a diamond on hold with GoodOldGold, who have been fabulous to work with.

I am going to have it set in either a 2mm or 2.5mm James Allen knife edge platinum band. Still on the fence as to which one; 2.5mm is what the little lady said she preferred, but I''m not sure if that combined with a 2.5mm matching wedding band would dwarf the 5.21mm diamond.

At any rate, she better appreciate this because I had to sell my handgun and motorcycle racing gear to help finance the nicer GOG diamond. Lol. She''s a great lady though and I''m glad to do it. Now I just have to figure out how to ask her father''s permission, in spanish, for when we go visit him in Colombia in two weeks.

your GF''s fingers (are the big and long)? Dont know what to tell you though if she specifically asked for
the 2.5. Maybe get her to try some 2mm and 2.5mm solitare rings on?

I would ask if GOG has anything of similar price, their setting page is still a work in progress, it will be simpler for you for them to set it.

She has shorter fingers fwiw.

GOG did have one setting that looked similar but not sure if it has a matching wedding band, whereas JA does.

However, despite her requesting 2.5mm, I drew a scale drawing at 2.5mm and 2mm with matching bands, and I think 4mm total for band and ering has a more balanced look, assuming the knife edge doesnt make it look too thin.

As I say, ask. Their webpage for the settings are still a work in progress, many settings and bands are not up there.

They did send a pic of a comparably priced Stuller setting that doesn''t look too bad. It looks like Stuller also makes a matched wedding band with a notch for the prongs from the engagement ring.

Can I infer from this that if I went the JA route, a non-notched band would create a gap?

Depends on the band, if it is low enough should not need to be notched. Ask JA which is the matching band for these.

Ok, saw the matching band, they are not notched, should be able to stack flat against each other.
