Friends of PS - my buddy is getting ready to pop the question to my cousin! I've been desperately trying to find an antique cushion/AVC type for him for the past few months. His budget has dropped to ~3k (setting included?), are there any cushions experts that can help us find a great performer for that budget???

Please help me! I can't do it alone anymore! LOL

Oh... btw... I'm in the process of finding studs for my soon to be wife, finding really nice ones thru BGD!

Any size/color considerations? What type of setting? Is he open to preloved?

For antique cushions you really only have a few options. Perhaps the experts can quote me if I'm wrong but I just don't feel cushions are cut for performance unless they are branded, especially antique cushions. I don't know of any places that sells antique cushions with asets, idealscopes etc.

Anyhow for true antique cushions I would contact JBEG or Adam at old World Diamonds. JbEG typically does sell their diamonds certed. The ladies are WONDERFUl to work with and right now they have a sale going on. However, pretty much what they have on their site is all their inventory. You can email them to see if they have anything else. I have noiced they also carry more OEC's then cushions.

Adam has some that are certed and some that aren't. I think his pricing is VERY budget friendly. I know that Ginger and I both bought uncerted antique cushions that were later appraised and Adam was dead on with the stats. So I would trust him with the uncerted. And if you want it certed GIA is in the same building and charges $100 per ct to cert. He has a large inventory so I wouldn't bother looking online. i would just email or call him.

Goodluck in your search. Just ask for photos and or video of the stone. Look for a crisp facet pattern and you should be fine.

I would go with this stone and get a plain white gold or rose gold setting (which ever type she likes).

I would also let the Ebayers come up with something antique on Ebay.

Don't think you will find a nicer stone on JA for $2500.00 than the one on GOG. Check out the Megascope reading.

Ps'ers, TY for the help. I've been so busy I haven't been able to check this thread until today.

I should have mentioned it doesnt have to be true antique cushion, but AVC style (chunky facet style). Thanks! We're still in the hunt for the stone!!!

whoaaaaa...

Has the gf said what sort of cushions she wants? If she likes true antique cushions she might really dislike the branded diamonds or vice versa.
