As some of you know, I have been waiting and looking and hoping for an academic job in Canada for three years... this year for the first time there are actually jobs in my field in my own country! *gasp*
Five to be precise! Oh the joy!
Althoguh most of the jobs have not started considering candidates yet, a few weeks ago I found out that I have been invited for an interview at my first choice school, which is one of the top Canadian universities and is my dream job (or close enough
). They had 100 applicants and are interviewing four people. Careful sleuthing tells me that I am probably in the top two candidates, so there is a real possibility that I could get this job!
The interview process is pretty involved: I have to do a 1 hour talk about my research to the faculty and graduate students, then I meet with about a million people, have dinners and lunches with other people, and basically schmooze for 2 days.
My interview is on Monday and Tuesday of next week. I need dust dust dust from all of you please to help me do well over those long and tiring days! I am almost seven months pregnant, to make it even more fun
, so dust wishing my energy and stamina will be especially appreciated!
Thanks to all!
