Alright this is probably a little odd, but I have proposal ideas set for both, cities Boston and New York. I am leaning a little bit more towards Boston, but it''s not set in stone. I guess the deciding factor I''m looking for is, and really my only question is, is Tiffany''s in New York ALOT better (by better I mean more pieces to choose from, customer service, ect.) than the one in Boston, or are the comparable. I''ve never been to either Tiffany locations, but my soon to be fiance said the one in NY is 6 floors or something rediculous like that. My intention is to have her friend take her to Boston or Newyork (depending what feedback I get from here), and while shes at whichever Tiffany''s store come and surprise her in the store. So I really want her to have, as many pieces as possible for her to view before choosing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We bought our engagement ring in the New York store in July. There are many floors there but the 2nd floor is the one where they have the engagement and wedding rings. What you can do is email them before hand and let them know what type of ring you are looking for in terms of size and also if you have any specific specs that you are looking for and they will bring them to the store that you require. It is a great place to get your ring and make sure that you get the champagne!

Wow, are you planning on proposing to her in the store and then letting her choose whatever she wants?!?! That sounds like an amazing proposal to me!!! I am from NY, so am a little biased and would pick the NY store. It is definitely large and grand and there are so many awesome places in NY that you could go afterwards. Best of luck!

Let me put my vote in for NY! I haven''t been to Boston, but there is just something that can be so romantic about NY! I think she would love it. And I second about the champagne!! Best of Luck! And please share pictures after you find the perfect ring!

Hi,
As a Bostonian I choose Beantown!!! I believe the T & Co here was just remodeled but I haven''t seen the inside yet. I loved it before the remodel so I''m assuming it''s still really really nice. I also imagine the T & Co here is less busy than the Manhattan store, because it''s not on a big street like 5th Ave so there isn''t the same tourist factor.

I think your idea is so romantic...kudos to you!! And ditto on the suggestion for Champagne :)

I vote for Boston

I''ve been to both (I work right next to the one in Boston) and I''d definitely say NYC. They just renovated the one in Boston and it''s a little bigger, but not nearly as large as the NYC flagship store.

Also, since you do plan to propose there, I think the setting of the NYC store is much better. Not just because it''s the flagship store, but because the one in Boston is inside a mall and not exactly picturesque.

if you are proposing at tiffany''s, there is no question that it should be in nyc. That is the hallmark store and is the image most girls think of when hearing the word "tiffany''s". "Breakfast at Tiffany''s" and countless other movies come to mind, and yes it is large and several floors, located by Central Park on 5th Avenue..and all those typical ''nyc'' stereotypes.
i''ve lived in boston, and while it was years ago, i couldn''t even tell you where Tiffany''s was located there. For a once in a lifetime event, make the extra effort and do it right.
and yes i live in nyc so might be biased.

I live in Boston, but have been to both stores. To really make it memorable, I''d go with New York. There''s so much more ooomph!

Plus, the one here is way small and is in a sort high-end, yet unimpressive mall.

Nytemist, you''re in Boston? I had no idea there were so many of us. I think we need a Boston/Providence/New England get together sometime soon...

I also responded in your other thread, but no questions, hands down New York. The one in Boston is in a mall for goodness sakes. You don''t want to propose in a mall...

DEFINITELY the NY Tiffany''s. Sounds like a fantastic proposal! Want to do a practice-run on me first?

A vote for the NY Tiffanys too... my poor brother went travelling to the US with me and he had to drag me out of there!!

Boston... I think its a beautiful city

Hey everyone, thanks for the votes, definately alot of great opinions. My current G/f is unfortunately in love with Boston, and from what Im being told on here (and I''m going to have to agree) NY is the place to be as far as Tiffany''s goes. So I''ve decided to propose in the NY Tiffany''s and then put her on a plane and be in Boston that night, for the celebration, I''m hoping that will be the best solution. Now to find plane tickets...... Thanks again

BLJ- I think she would beyond thrilled with that scenario for the celebration!

Hudson- Born and raised in Boston, native of Dorchester. I''m now north of the city in Billerica.

That sounds like a great idea! When are you doing it? You''ll have to post pics!

Hey, BLJ,

I stopped in the Boston Tiffany since it''s on my way home from work to get a better idea of how many engagement rings there are. I didn''t count them all, but would guess there are about 40-50 on display from which you could choose. At least a dozen classic RB solitaires, maybe 8-10 legacy rings, maybe the same number of Lucidas and then several other options. There were a few three stone rings, also a fow of those "ribbon" rings (with pave on either side of a RB). Oh, and they had about 10 of the new rings that have cushions on a thin pave band which were gorgeous. One was about 4 carats.

I''m not sure what kind of cut she likes, but they literally only had 4 - 5 emerald cuts. There were no asschers. I''d say if she wants any kind of step-cut ring, she''d have very little to choose from. There was a gorgeous 5-carat solitaire emerald cut, though, if she does want a step cut, haha :)

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know. All of the engagement rings are housed in about 2 - 3 display cases, so that kind of gives you an idea of your options in Boston.

I think that at the store in NY will probably have at least 5x the options--I think I remember at least half of an entire floor being devoted to e-rings in the flagship store. Flying (or taking a train) to Boston afterwards is a great idea--it''s such a gorgeous time of year here, I think she''ll love it.

Another Bostonian (well, a former one anyway) here to vote for Boston! I''ve been to NYC and I''d love to go back for a visit, but it seems like such an overwhelming place. I know someone who works for T & Co. and she loves it. It''s a popular place but like Hudon Hawk said, it''s not so touristy. Boston itself is such a charming city. I miss it, can you tell? Luckily, we''re not far though.

There ARE a lot of New Englander''s on the board. It would be awesome to have a get together. I''m in TX, but I''d fly up for it!
