hi, my first post, i''ve been lurking for a couple of months.

i''ve got a question about the 65/65 rule on square cuts. some of you may know who i''m talking about, but he claims that square cuts can not have table or depth over 65%. he claims this 65/65 square cut rule (and 61% depth on RB''s) will give about 88% light return. he also claims this is the GIA Class 2 Cut. i''d like to hear your expert opinions.

i''ve been using this 65/65 rule to narrow down my diamond searches, but in the end i''ll be buying the stone that is the sparkliest to my eyes.

there is another thread on this page.

The 65:65 rule is rubbish

Personally, I would never buy a princess cut stone with a depth as low as 65%. I''d have to agree the 65/65 rule is poop. My stone scored a triple VH in light return according to the BScope, and my stone has a depth of 74.1%.

Same here.....I don''t follow that rule when I select pricness cuts for our invetory.
