Which one of these would you go for- both look like great values with very good cuts/symmetry.

Also, would I be better off in terms of price if I wait until January to make a purchase.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Do a search of this forum for princess-finding advice, there's a ton of good info, and that way you'll have access to all the threads at once.

I'm not really a big fan of the GIA graded princess stones. I think that the AGS 0 designation would yield a prettier diamond, if this is the shape you love.

Also, I tend to avoid Blue Nile for the purchase of important stones for a couple of reasons; They don't let you do comparison buys (you can't buy a few stones and send back the ones you don't want) and I think princess cuts are subjective enough to have to be seen in person.

Also, BN doesn't have any images of the stone. There's no ASET, no IS, no microscope images, nothing.

Some vendors who have the IS and ASET imagery, and a lot of great advice on this shape are Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, Crafted by Infinity.

But for such a big purchase, Blue Nile doesn't really make the grade for me. Not with the princess shape.

Welcome!

Unfortunately we can't tell anything about the diamonds to be able to give you any meaningful advice without ASET and the other images Med mentioned. BN do not offer such services. I would check out the vendors Med mentioned as they have top cut Princess which are in house, and have all the info you could want on each diamond to help you make an informed choice.

Here are the websites.

www.whiteflash.com

www.goodoldgold.com

www.winkjones.com who sell Infinity Diamonds.

A suggestion: raise your color and lower your clarity, if possible.

You will not do better in terms of price in January, probably. But selection should be up. It''s hard to say.

Wow, Bluenile sure gets slaughtered out here. There are a number of us that easily beat them but sounds like some of these postings are driving business to specific vendors...

In terms of your pricing question that sounds like a crystal ball thing. Even how pathetically slow things have been, the best diamonds, the best cuts, the best pricing, they will sell. Depending on the category as you wait and the best ones sell the next best ones cost more. And there are some siteholders overseas that have pricing that is crushing anything stateside. When they go then one is locked into paying the 9% to 20% extra from some NY supplier or other stateside supplier holding the goods.

It would be hard to believe diamond pricing is going to plummet since there is extremely limited history of ever happening being such a monopolistic controlled market......but how could one know. I doubt January makes a difference...but if we go "depression mode" because banks fail, because auto makers fail, because all of the economic interest rate lowering gimmicks fail, because people are going to realize what our government is doing to our free market system, who''s to say what we may be in for say in May or June or some other time...but if the economy jumpstarts then any delay in purchasing will inevitably cost more.
