I am looking to buy a 2.36 princess cut diamond. Can you tell me if these measurements are any good and how they would rate?

Depth 72%
Table 64.9%
Crown Height 3.9%
Girdle: Medium (Faceted)
Culet: Pointed
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Approx. 7.63 x 7.63 x 5.49 mm

Vvs2 clarity and J in colour
Thank you for any help

Sorry typo not 2.36 but 2.26 carats

super flat crown.

Why does that make it bad??? Sorry I am new to this.

table is normal sized. so your crown angle is shallow. a steep crown angle produces more fire.

So you are saying this diamond might be less fireful and brillant?

just the fire part. have you seen it? do you like fire?

I have seen it in person and I thought it was nice (sorry I am a man diamonds just are not my thing) my sister is trying to help me by getting me on this web site.

Got an image?
I personaly wouldnt get a any shape with such low crown height!!!

Here are some pics also do you think this mounting would look ok on a size 8 finger. My girl is 5''9 and not exactly dainty and i know she likes the tenison set rings so I think she will like this setting. The diamond is GIA graded.

The most important one to post is a "face-up" shot...

no picture, huge table, v thick girdle.

what''s the budget? shooting for high near colorless (G/H) and SI clarity grades is more popular.

The photo is above of the local stone and I think there is a link on the James Allen one. I want no lower than a Vs1 in clarity I know she is more of a clarity nut than a color nut (she has a pear shaped diamond 1.23 that is a p color set in yellow gold that she never takes off). In color i would like a g-j color the budget is around $18,000.00 depending on the stone I might can fudge a little more. I want a 2 -2.50 in carat range.

Help please I am soo lost trying to do this.

I''m not much of a princess expert - but I don''t think I''d buy a stone with a 3% crown height. It''s probably gonna be glassier & less fiery than comperable princess cuts.

Also - it looks lower than a "J" to me ... is it an EGL cert, or un-certed?? If so -- it might actually rank as a "K" or "L" according to GIA or AGS. Also, since the stone isn''t a super-ideal princess cut ... it will show it''s body color from all angles much more than a well-cut stone of the same color grade.

As to the setting ...

Tensions settings are cool -- but on a stone that large, they look masculine. ESPECIALLY with a square stone like that. Unless your gal is very sporty/butch -- I think it''s too much metal, too dude-like, too heavy. (And the fact that she currently wears a pear diamond -- makes me think she''s girly).

I''m 5''9 with size 10 fingers and that setting looks way beefier than I would ever choose. If it''s platinum - it probably weighs a TON too.

There are tension or tension-LIKE settings that taper toward the stone in a more graceful sweeping way ... that will be easier for a gal to wear everyday ... look more feminine.

Any of that help??

Also ... keep in mind that she will probably be wearing ANOTHER band -- the wedding band alongside her e-ring. Can you IMAGINE how wide that would get ... with that ring and ANOTHER ring???

The diamond is a GIA graded diamond she is very sporty or butch if you want to call her that.

I don''t know, I think this setting is a bit masculine. If she likes tension settings, I would go in this direction instead.

I hope that didn''t come across wrong! I can veer toward the tomboy-ish myself! You''re probably right on then ...

Is it platinum or white gold -- I do still worry about the weight. My own ring is about half the size & with the wedding band still feels pretty heavy!

Here is the winner

Now I just have to decide on the diamond.
It''s more expensive, but it looks like he can make it in platinum: http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=262&rn=1125&action=show_detail

Brian is also great to work with and his workmanship is very nice.

For princess stones you might want to check out AGS000 stones, they are a good bet to be beautifully cut and stunning.

Sorry, but I cannot imagine that crown height of 3.9% only. It must be a typo. Please check that part of your info.

Live long,

Wow. I like the knox ring so much better than the first pic you posted. The knox ring has the same "look" but it seems smoother and fluid. NICE
