I''ve been reading this forum for a while now and have found a lot of good advice and info. In general I''m in the market for a 1.5+ ct princess cut (less than $12k hopefully

) which will go in a solitaire setting.

Specifically, right now I''m looking at a 1.78ct princess cut GIA cert diamond, whose specs are shown below. The price on it is $10.9k (I have no idea whether that is a good price or not.) Please let me know if you think this a quality diamond or not.

Hi Bill,

A bit more info is needed please, is the diamond for sale with an online vendor or store jeweller, have you seen it in person? If online, images such as photos andASET are needed, unfortunately we can't tell much by the numbers, if you have seen it in person how does the outline shape look to you for "squareness"?

Thanks for responding. The source is an online vendor; so I have not seen the diamond in person. Although that probably wouldn''t do me much good anyways, because I have little idea of what to look for. I have sent them a request for photos, and I will post them here when available.

So the information I do have is pretty much pointless?

Not pointless but at best all it gives us is a chalk outline of the stone. Find out if you have requested photos if the vendor can send you an ASET image as well as a closeup photo, that would tell us more about how well this diamond is cut and returning light. If they could also get a Sarin report on the diamond which gives the crown height that would be helpful too but images are the main thing.

Post what you have when the info arrives then we can go from there.
