Hello,

My husband is upgrading my ring. We have already purchased the setting from tacori. We are going back to the store we bought the original set to upgrade the diamond. Tacori needs the measurements to build us the setting. We went to the store and not knowing a lot about princess cut put this one on hold. Can someone help us and tell us if this is a good diamond? The cost of this diamond was 4,200.

1.01 carat

depth 76.2%
Table 65%
Girdle extremely thin to very thick
Cutlet none

polish very good
symmetry good
clarity vs2
color g
fluorescence none

Thank you for your help,

Bruce/Kim

Hi Bruce/Kim,

We seem to have missed your post.

Based upon the information that you give, it is very difficult to give an opinion on the quality of this stone. In order to be complete, you need a full Sarin- or OGI-measurement, and even then, we will need to add some assumptions.

However, there are a number of remarks, that we can already make.

- From which lab is the grading report? We need it to assess the validity or the strictness of the grading of colour and clarity.
- What are the diameters of this stone? We need it and Tacori needs it.
- A table of 65% gives you a higher probability of getting a better light performance. Remember, a probability, not any certainty.
- A girdle with an ''extremely thin'' part bothers me. It could be a durability-issue.
- A girdle ranging from ''extremely thin'' to ''very thick'' bothers me even more. It is a sign that the cutter needed to fiddle a lot in order to retain a certain weight.

Hope this helped.

Live long,

Hi,

Sorry I knew we were forgetting something.

The report is by GIA (Gem Trading Labortory)

The measurements are 5.43x5.17x3.94 (1.01 carat)

It also says Rectangular modified brillant.

Thanks for your help.
