Princess cut but with a circle ?

Hi All,

I have my beautiful engagement ring from my wonderful fiancee and love it. Its a copy of makers mark ''precious'' which is gorgeos.

The thing is I was looking closely at my ring today and noticed that the top of it has a circle cut into the top of the diamond (which is a princess stone) is thir normal? Im guessing it was done to make it sparkle more but I feel this is not right?? Can anyone offer assistance?

I am not sure, I have a princess and there is nothing that looks like a circle on mine...but then again, my stone is a little older, yours may be some new cut
