Try doing a search on "princess cuts" here. There are so many wonderful jewelers on this forum. Most of them have different kinds of scopes to measure light return and brilliance (an added bonus when you can't see the stone in person.)

Hope this helps.

If you do a search on pricescope, above, you can see some other stones available. I know people have found good princess stones at Whiteflash and goodoldgold, though I just took a quick browse and the one you found at Blue Nile is certainly competitive.

If I were the one buying, I'd go to http://www.gemappraisers.com/ and look at their cut charts. 62-68 on table% and 64-75 on depth% look optimal, but the one you have gets a 2B rating on table and 1A's otherwise - not shabby. Plug in some numbers from different stones and see how they look. Although you can't get a complete grading without the crown%, it will rate each of the characteristics individually, and you can look at the charts and get a sense of what kind of proportions you should be looking for and whether the one you have is a good bet.

All in all, though, considering what else I see out there, the Blue Nile Stone does look competitive, and you can have it shipped to Dave Atlas (or another appraiser) for a cut analysis look-see, or just order it yourself and see what you think - they have a 30 day return policy. I got my round brilliant from BN and was very pleased with their service and quality. They also hold their own stock, so if you have any questions about the stone, call and they will pull it and look at it for you. Good Luck!

PS - If you do a pricescope search, there are a few fine cuts available.

Hello everyone. I just noticed this post and wanted to offer up an option out there for everyone to review. Now we certainly don't want to toot our own horn around here, but Jim Schultz has recently added a very nice selection of princess cut diamonds onto our website. They are also a part of our Signature Series Collection. We try to stay above the 2B AGA cut grade as you have most likely seen on www.gemappraisers.com. So take a look and let us know what you think. Here is a link for a direct example.
