Hey guys, I have been researching for diamonds for quite a while and been a regular visitor of this website. So thank you in advance for all the information.

I finally set my mind on a stone selling to my by a reliable whole seller. From the specs, it looks perfect for me, I have requested a picture because this will be shipped from another country and im waiting for the picture. I just want to get professional advice on this.

It’s a princess cut, 1.2 Carat – VS1 – G color (GIA certified)
Symmetry – very good
Polish – excellent
Fluorescence – none
Table 75%
Depth 76%
Girdle – very thick.
L/W ratio – 1.03
Only inclusions are one feather type in an edge, so I was told this could be even better than VS1.

I know table and depth values are marginal to what’s known to be “very good” cut. Also the girdle seem to be very thick. However, the supplier told me that having little depth would not alter the light reflecting capacity that drastically and it is due to this reason why im getting a very good deal on the stone ($5100/carat). I am also aware the girdle will add weight on price/carat. On paper, it fits my budget perfectly and I am not expecting a high end “ideal” diamond. Having no inclusions (barely) and reasonable table/depth makes it really attractive at the moment.

I would like to know your thoughts, or if anyone has purchased a similar diamond and if they are happy with their investment, content with the fire, brilliance and scintillation on their stones.

1) Never trust "reliable whole sellers" on their word completely. Whole sellers don't sell to public. Get images/videos of the stone.
Your vendor is right about the depth though.

2) If it fits your budget perfectly and you not expecting a high end “ideal” diamond, $5,100 per carat is cheap. However, my question is why? Most people in the industry won't sell below the general market rate. Good stones sell fast even thought they cost more and deservedly so. It's either you were really lucky and had really found one rare "wholesaler" or they could be hidden problems lying beneath the surface.

Again, without details and buying blind, you won't know the answer until you receive the stone in hand.

This specific whole seller do NOT make engagement rings to general public but only help out friends and family based on recommendation. The company is owned by a friends family so I was recommended and hence the good deal. So this is the whole sale price and they do not make profit from this. I save about 30% from retail price at the end.

I compared lightscope and other analysis reports based on >76% depth stones and there seem to be nothing affecting such high depth or table or girdle. Most stones that has high depth or table or girdles seem to be better on the wallet and also provide very good optics.

I am waiting for pictures as they need to be sent from Asia, I will decide tomorrow based on that. Hopefully it won’t be sold by then.
