Howdy all. I stumbled across this site while doing research for an engagement ring. Lots of great info here -- thank you all.

I'm looking for a princess cut in the 1ct. range that will look nice in a simple platinum setting. The absolute most I can spend is $3500.

Here are some loose parameters I've set, given the budget I'm looking at. If you could let me know what you think of these, I'd be much indebted.

Color: G or H (should I consider I, especially if there's a bit of fluorescence?)
Clarity: VS1 to SI1 (I'll probably try to find an eye-clean SI1 -- does this seem reasonable?)
Table: 72.1 - 77%
Depth: 75.1 - 80%
Girdle: thin to thick

Comments and suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, let's first set the proportions straight:

In a Princess cut, you should look for a diamond that is 68-75% depth and 65-79% table (the smaller the better!). A 1ct Princess with 80% depth will look like a 0.8cts!

There is no reason why $3,500 will not get you at least an H-SI1 and better!

Glad to help.
