Hi Everyone,
Was wondering what your thoughts are for the price of a diamond with this spec:

cut:
round; ideal - hearts & arrows
polish: excellent
symmetry: excellent

color: D
clarity: IF
carat: 1.5
certified: GIA

Someone quoted me $24,000. What are your opinions on this? Thanks for your feedback in advance.
Q

People on this site will want more info from you -- more measurements and perhaps sarin, idealscope, etc.

Based on the size, color and clarity it looks like a reasonable price.

Thanks. This is what was quoted to me after I discussed my general spec. I just wanted to know from a price level if this is a bargain/reasonable/rip-off?

My next steps would be to get a Sarin report and get more details in terms of proportions (crown and pavilion angles, etc).

Price sounds pretty good, but it is important you get more details. Your going for the ultimate goods here, so they need to give you everything humanly possible. I'd probably try to work out an appraisal with one of the guys regular to pricescope and maximize your knowledge.

Not too many sellers stock these routineely, and you could definitely get higher quotes. Actually, 24k is somewhat on the lower side: great, unless the description of H&A is not exactly that or some other detail warrants savings (fluorescence or some other detail).

Are there more details available of this one? (GIA cert, H&A proof for ex.)

Since something is telling me you are not looking for a bargain on this one

here are a couple of D-IFs also with a "perfect cut" pedigree for ref.

1.6 D-IF, H&A
and a 1.2 cts one.
