Good afternoon,

I'm new here so let me start by saying thanks for your help and interest. Next, I've been on the hunt for what seems to be a tough find. I'm looking for an elongated cushion cut. I've had a jeweler near me looking at trade shows for about two months now and they finally came back with some results for me to look at.

Their price for the one I like seems terribly high though and I'm looking for some help confirming what I suspect to be an over priced stone.

Stone details: elongated cushion cut, 1.25 carets SI1, H in color that has a girdle flaw as well. They are asking $8,000 for the stone. All research I've done on other sites tells me this stone should fall around the $4,000 - $5,000 range.

Your thoughts....
Thanks again for your time and feedback

Hi Brian :wavey:

It's difficult to answer your question when there are so many different kinds of cushions... To find an elongated (more rectangular) cushion shouldn't be too difficult, but to find a nice one at that weight for $4-5K may be the problem. Cushions can't be chosen by numbers/specs alone. You have to see them. So, if your jeweler's stone is very nicely cut, then it's possible that the $8K price is fair. What type of cushion are you looking for? If you're not sure, the following link will be very helpful:
