Hi all,

I'm interested in a preloved Bulgari ring as an everyday e-ring (I can't bear to get nicks on my original e-ring) that has these proportions:

0.301
VS1
E

Table 55%
Crown 15%
Girdle 3% Medium
Pavilion 43%
Total depth 61%
Culet None

Fluorescence Moderate Blue
GIA certified

I'm trying to translate the crown and pavilion %'s to angles but from what I've read on pricescope, these can really differ as %'s are more of an approximate measure.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on whether this would have a good cut? (HCA < 2)

Thank you!

Thanks so much! I got a HCA of 0.7 this way:

Depth: 61%
Table: 55%
Crown Angle: 33.7 degrees
Pavilion Angle: 40.7 degrees

Likely to be a sparkler? :geek2:
I'm glad it worked!

HCA score <2 indicates the crown and pavilion angles work together, so you shouldn't have any issues with light performance :)

The crown angle is on the lower end of the scale (PriceScope recommendations usually run 34-35 degrees, maybe 35.5 with a shallow (40.6 degree) pavilion) but it's not 33 degrees - I think it should therefore be fairly balanced in terms of white light return (which lower crown angles tend to produce more of) and coloured 'fire' (which higher crown angles tend to produce more of).

The small table should also increase opportunity for coloured 'fire' because it means the upper girdle facets and star facets are larger in size, which should increase dispersion of light (i.e. create fans of colour like a prism) coming back out of the stone towards the viewers' eyes :)

We'd be interested in seeing pictures if/when you get it! :))

Thank you! I’m glad you think the angles complement well.

I read your post on the CBI diamond and i really like the setting you chose! It looks strong and delicate at the same time

Am trying to get a good deal on it right now, if I do get it I will definitely post here!:kiss2:
