Just for fun! :wavey: And, tell us a story about it too, if there is one, or why you like it so much!

I will start with a teacup, even though I never actually use teacups. I have been brewing the tazo chai at home recently, with some nice honey and a little milk. Yummmm!

Anyway, I bought this teacup in, ohhh, looks like 2005 (just looked it up in my email), when I went on a solo trip to Japan. I've kept in the box since then, still wrapped, until yesterday. My DH asked me about it recently. It was my intent to open it as a gift to myself after a big accomplishment, but I guess I sort of forgot about it, and I have accomplished a few things since then! So, I opened it yesterday on a whim. It's pretty! I was totally surprised by it because I had no recollection of what it actually looked like. It was from a little shop in Arashiyama, I think. There was a little note inside. I'd love to know what it says. If anyone can translate, I would be most appreciative!

And, two of my favorite mugs.

The first is from Ikea. And, I just love to drink coffee from it. It is sooo cute, and it's just the perfect size.

The second is from a yard sale. I like the look of it, but much prefer drinking from my Ikea mug. :praise:

How about you?

That's a gorgeous little cup! I adore things like that, but don't actually drink tea or coffee myself.

I do have a coffee mug in the breakroom at work, but I use it for water. It matches DH's (we work together) and they were wedding gifts. Mine is white and says "Mrs." in black letters, his is black and says "Mr." in white letters. The insides of both are red and there is a quote on the edge - I've found the one my heart adores. :))

Aww! That's cute, both that you work together AND the mugs! Did you meet at work?

Yes, friends first. Everyone comments how how 'tired' we must get of each other. Um...no, not really. I mean, we argue sometimes, but still always have lunch together. :))

Aww, that's so sweet! So you moved there on your own before you met him. Wow! Good for you!

I have one that needs to be added for sheer enjoyment value, but it requires that I get out of bed (my teenage son made me coffee this morning so I didn't even need to get out of bed). Maybe in a while.

I have a mug with a huge 'diamond' ring as the handle. I'll have to dig up a photo for you. ::)

Oh I've seen those -they're so funny!! Perfect for us PSers!

I broke my favorite mug several years ago, but luckily I had bought two. The handle is what makes the mug, for me, and a thick enough wall to retain the heat for a bit is nice, too. The one I broke had a painting I like better on it (Klimt's The Kiss); the one I still have features Cézanne's Still Life With Pomegranate And Pears. I think I've had this mug for well over 10 years!

Now I'm curious! Mug photo, please.

Awesome thread idea! I LOVE mugs! I collect handmade ceramic mugs, and DH swears I wanted to buy our house because it came complete with a little built-in set of shelves that are perfect for my mug collection. :cheeky:

Here's a not-so-great old photo of my collection. Most shelves have three pieces on them now instead of two. The mug that started my obsession is the one on the fifth shelf from the top, all the way to the right. I have a new favorite now, but I'm not sure I have any pictures of it. img_8790.jpg

I never actually use it as it is too small, but i love looking at it on my desk :))

Got this a couple of years back at a local arts festival. It's pretty tall - 5 inches or so. I like the shape and the graphics.

AH!!! Perfect mug! Love the "diamond ring", HOT!

My favourite mug is a matte black one that is huge (I think it holds 350 or 400ml, which is just right for my tea). It is large enough that I once mistook it for the barrel of my jewelry tumbler. Gold rings do not improve the taste of tea. I will take a picture and share it tomorrow.

I love the diamond ring mug - I must get one for me!
