A helicopter crashed in high rise apartment building...thankfully there is no reason for terrorist attack...more of a sloppy flying incident....Praying for those people in the building!! And any of our people here that are in that area.

Changed... I see they dont know what crashed!

Hopefully many were at work and not in the building, but still... SAD!!!

This is the last line on Fox News... "The building is a 50-story condominium tower built in 1986 and located nearby Sotheby's Auction House. It has 183 apartments, many of which sell for more than $1 million." Was the Ellen Barkin auction today?

I posted this about 5 minutes ago in the around the world forum. Its sad. I just hope it was a mistake and that we are not getting a signal from outside sources to attack again...its in an expensive neighborhood too.

So scary and so sad. But looks like it''s a terrible accident.

Just wanted to say I''m thinking of all you NYC PSers. My stomach dropped when hubby turned on the TV. Let''s hope that this is a terrible accident and nothing more.

It''s not a helicopter, it''s a small plane. So scary! I hope it was an accident and no one was seriously hurt.

Ugh. Deja Vu.

524 East 72nd St.
The Bellaire Building

From what I've heard people in the upper floors are still trapped in the building - I hope they get out okay.

Apparently the Gov. has deployed fighter jets over the US in a number of cities.

Scintillating...

I live near an air force base in San Diego, the fighters just flew over our house. 2 people are confirmed dead.

Does anyone here live near there? i know we have people in NYC but I just dont know where..

NYC people.. CHECK IN!

My office is about 20 blocks away and it's pretty calm around here although I heard sirens in the distance right after it happened. I really want to believe that it was just a freak accident but we're so conditioned to think that anything like this is an act of terrorism. They have confirmed 2 dead already. So sad and scary. Our city has been through so much already, I surely hope we don't have to endure more.

They just reported that the plane was registered and owned by Corey Lidle a former Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher who now is with the NY Yankees. Reports are saying a member of The NY Yankees organization was on the plane. That''s all I have right now.

My news just said FBI confirmed it was the Yankee Pitcher Lidle that was flying the plane...HOW SAD!!!!!!

Here is a picture of the pitcher........He is the one flying on the right

This hurts Yankee people especially. Seeing anyone killed is tragic, but it''s not the first time they lost a teammate to a plane crash.

I''m a huge Yankees fan and so sad about this.

It''s very sad and a tragedy no matter who it was, Yankees pitcher or not.

It just feels so weird to think that he''s gone.
