Pomelo’s quest for red

So the stones are not glass-filled rubies (which are actually not even considered natural, but composite). These have been heated with a flux agent (likely borax) to "heal" fractures. And the residues left behind are minor.

Copy pasting from the Show Me Your Cabs thread (sorry for dupe, wanted to add here for reference):

I added a pre-loved vintage Chaumet ruby cab to the collection, style is “Anneau”.

Usually I’m pretty good at knowing / recognising vintage signed pieces but I’d not seen this one before, and, with my recent ruby fascination and love of cabochons, I couldn’t resist. The ruby cab is small (5*3mm) and unsurprisingly doesn’t have a cert, and is a pure red to my eyes.

What’s been fascinating is to compare this ruby cab with my ruby baguettes (vintage Tiffany). I haven’t quite figured out yet when / why the cab lights up vs when the baguettes light up, but I’ll continue noodling…

Such rich ruby color and lustrous gold! I love the way you wear your rings. :)
