I have quotes on 2 round diamonds, set in the band we like. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

2.20 carat round stone, G color, I1. $10,500. This price includes the band which has pave diamonds. Normally, I didn''t think I''d want to go higher than an SI2, but to the naked eye, you see none of the tiny flaws inside the stone that you can see with the loop and the color is very white with great brilliance. I am one who CAN accept flaws if not seen by the naked eye.

Second stone is 2.63 carats, J color SI2. Yes, the J color did scare the hell out of me when I heard that, but we looked at it in many different lights and, honestly, could not see a difference. The price of this, again, set in the band, is $11,405.

I cannot recall the depth, etc. information, but they were in the ideal numbers area(I do not have the paperwork in front of me)and are certified.

Please let me know your thoughts, I''d appreciate it. Thank you.

Do these diamonds have a GIA report? Are the diamonds for sale online or with a jeweller? An I1 of that size might not be eyeclean so if you can see it in person ask if you can check it out away from the store lights as inclusions can pop out more in some lights than others. Same applies with SI2.

More info is needed to help you, if you could get the following then we can help you decide which is the best one.

type of grading report and cut grade if applicable
depth %
table%
crown and pavilion angles or percentages
polish and symmetry grades
girdle thickness
star and lower girdle facet percentages
diameter measurement in mm
fluorescence if applicable

If you could get that info then we can go from there.

I did see the stones side by side in different light and really could not tell the color difference, even in different light. I don''t remember the numbers from the chart, but they were in the 50''s percentage wise?? They were in the ideal area I know. I''m not really versed on all the info you asked. I understand what you are asking about the girth, cradle, etc. and I don''t know the professional way to answer it or the numbers, but the stone was not shallow or very deep, I understand that matters how the stone looks, they looked pretty normal. Like I said, not a short, shallow stone and the point wasn''t very long on either. I know, I know, but I''m not a pro on jeweler terms, I mainly know about color and clarity and go by eyeballing the cut, depth. etc.

A 2.63 SI2 J, set in the band for $11,405???? Which lab graded it? I have a hard time believing anyone could find an Ideal cut diamond of that size for that price. Please check the lab report for both diamonds and post the specs as Lorelei suggested in the previous response...

I personally would run from the both of them!!! They are both not worth any money to me. I am just being honest don''t be mad at my opinion. You can get a nice SI1 EYE CLEAN G color 2 Carat for around $9000.00 if you shop it right, I did, with a mount that''s gourgeous.

It will all be on the GIA grading report Chloe - assuming thats the lab report the diamonds have, just note it down and post it here. Regrettably the info is needed if we are to help you further.

I realize you are new here, and may not be aware just how beautiful lower color and clarity stones can be. I would suggest searching the sight for such stones, see what you find. (maybe hit the tutorial as well) In a very well cut stone, and CUT is key here (there''s more to it than you think), inclusions can be masked by the brilliance and beauty of the cut. You''d be shocked to see just how gorgeous they can be. Also, it might be nice to temper your opinions, as there are many women on here with such stones.

I''ll leave you with some food for thought. Here is a thread full of J colored stones. And following is a picture of a 2.36 J SI2. Not worth the money? I''d beg to differ.

Disclaimer, you won''t get a stone of this quality at the price we''re talking about in this thread! Cut plays a part in what a diamond is priced for, the better the cut, the more it is....
