Hi Mary Jo,

Looks like a great stone.....The only question...and I think it is .....Is it eye clean?

Good Luck
MWG

I think it''s great. You may wan to ask them to say from how far away they can see the inclusions.

The stone arrived on Saturday and it''s beautiful! I brought it to my local appraiser today and he agreed that it''s a lovely stone, but he thinks I paid about 2 grand too much! He says he can get me the same size stone 1.80 ct, but F or G color, SI1, for what I paid for the H stone, SI1. (There''s a big jewelry show in Las Vegas coming up.) Any thoughts?

I have 25 days or so to think about it, I can send it back for the 30 day money back guarantee.

Thanks,
MaryJo

You probably could have saved *a little* money, but it would have been hard to get as nicely cut of a stone with a lifetime upgrade policy, the information GOG provides, and the great service and trust that GOG provides. To me, that''s worth a few hundred.

Let''s put it this way. If your appraiser is offering to sell you a stone, he isn''t impartial, so OF COURSE he''s going to tell you that he can get you a better stone for less.

That''s why we only recommend you take stones to INDEPENDENT appraisers, who don''t sell stones or work for a jewelry store. Think about it if he sells stones but also appraises other stones, wouldn''t it make sense for him business wise to ALWAYS say someone paid too much and that he could get them something better? Fishy...

But that being said, I agree with kcoursolle as usual!

This is why people recommend you go to an independent appraiser. If the guy has an incentive to talk you out of your stone so he can make a sale, he will be less likely to give you an unbiased, honest assessment of your stone and purchase price.

I doubt you could get much better in color without sacrificing some cut quality. GOG is a great vendor with beautiful stones, competitive prices, and great policies (lifetime trade up, included).

In sum, I would not put too much weight in what a non-independent appraiser has to say about your stone.

Good points, thanks for the feedback. Because of this big Las Vegas show, the independent appraiser in my area will be out of town for a week. My appointment is on June 11, which gives me plenty of time to get the independent opinion and decide what to do. I''m torn because this stone is truly gorgeous, eye clean, HUGE on my 4.5 finger. I''m already emotionally involved!!

That may be. But, will it be cut to the tight levels your is, and H&A''s precision? I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

Just a thought, have him find you one he thinks is comperable and compare.
