To be fair, you already have Sea Salt Coconut that glows more than this large but windowed emerald!

Price is not bad at all for 16 carats but I also guess this is the stone at its most flattering angle…

When you were hunting for emeralds, did you see many Colombian ones that benefited from flattering light/angles? My understanding is that they usually look really good in most lighting whereas the Zambians are more at the mercy of their lighting environment? Curious to hear what you saw as I know you saw heaps that day!

That’s a good point! Colombians didn’t really “go dark” at certain angles or under certain lighting like Zambians do.

But in general I think that unless the stone is cut to ideal standards, there’ll be some flattering vs less flattering angles.

Oh I can definitely see it in the pear and the asscher! Wouldn’t kick any of them out of bed though! They look pretty darn good even at their “worst”.

This doesn’t even look real. I wish I could see a gem of this quality in person but I don’t even know where or how! Some day maybe I will visit a big city with high end jewelers and museum exhibitions and such.

Dreamer, I can't even lie... it is actually better in person. Feel free to reach out if you're curious about the 1.78ct! The hue (bluish-green), tone (perfect medium), and saturation (ultra vivid and glowy) are all very similar.

Anyway, there are so many beautiful stones in this thread. I'll tell you, I saw one for sale in my travels that was out of my budget (by a couple of hundred thousand... lol), and nearly cried. It was perfection. I hope whoever can afford it treats it right!
