There was a thread here several years ago. I'm wondering if now more people have rings to show? and if they still love their rings?
I just discovered Caleb Meyers & love the organic yet refined quality of his work.
I was planning to have a solitaire setting for my right-hand ring, but now, after seeing his three stone rings I'm considering incorporating my earrings in the setting.

I just had an interesting time on Jim Meyer's website. I'm an artist and he talks in "artist" language, so that was very appealing. I then learned that he no longer uses customer stones -and apparently his son, Caleb, does not either [from what I have read on PS]. They use old-cut diamonds.
Jim said that the diamonds used today, and also the concept of prong-setting, are kind of cookie-cutter designs invented to be more easily produced for mass marketing. Prong settings were invented so that anyone could set a diamond.
Wow - this was all news to me. I looked very closely at my ACA after reading all that - but I still love it absolutely. Yet Jim has given me a desire to search out old cuts...like the one's I've been admiring on PS!

Thank you for sharing! I love the artisan nature of their work. I am still searching for an OEC and have bookmarked their page (well, pinned it). If I was going with a bezel setting I'd absolutely consider their work but I'm still trying to decide what I like.

If you're looking have have your own diamonds or stones set in that style, try Ann McKay, who was an apprentice under Jim.

I particularly love the peony setting (I think B11 on her site).

Sorry I don't have any pics!

That's a lovely setting!

There was a time that JM set customer stones, and that is why there are several here. It really declined after that because most people here strongly prefer to choose their own diamonds. I would favor old cuts or colored stones in those settings. I don't think I'd set modern round brilliants in them.

My avatar ring is inspired by a Caleb Meyer. I had contacted his office last summer and they would have set my stone but their quote was way beyond my budget. I am happy with my final ring after being redone just two weeks ago. I agree with the others about old cuts, but I did see some rings with modern cut diamonds on CMs website.
