Dear All,I would be very grateful for your opinions on this 1.25ct J/SI1:
Total depth 60.7%
Table 59%
CA 34
PA 40.6
Pavilion depth 42.5%
Girdle STK 4%
Star length 50%
Lower half 80%
The table falls outside of the range that is often recommended here, but this diamond scores 1.1 on HCA so I thought it may be worth pursuing. I have doubts about the PA - it states 40.6 but it must be on the borderline with 40.4 as the pavilion depth is 42.5%. HCA still gives 1.1 with 40.4 pavilion angle, but the light return changes to 'very good' instead of 'excellent'.
I took a few IS and ASET photos and apologies for the quality, it had to be done in the store with my iPhone. I am still hoping it's good enough to judge the optical performance. I didn't alter the images except sharpening. What do you think?
The diamond looked great in person, although it had much more color than I expected to see face up (my G solitaire looked very white in comparison). I am not yet sure if I am ok with it as originally I was looking for H/I, but if I decide to go for this one I would set it in a yellow gold pendant and it also has medium blue fluorescence. That might make it appear whiter, right?
I'd really appreciate your opinions. Like I said I was hoping for a higher color grade, but this is the best cut I was able to find and the price seems really good (USD 4,700). Upgrades accepted, too. I just want to make sure it is a top performer when it comes to the cut.
Thanks a million!
