Re: Please rate this diamond! ASAP Ready to Pull TRIGGER!!!!

the price is good.
have you looked closely at the inclusions? how noticeable are they?
the idealscope image shows some loss of light however HCA scores well so i guess its a slight contradiction.
i'm guessing its from an online dealer, if you're unhappy can you return it?

example:
here's a stone that score 2.4 on HCA, i would say it has slightly less loss than the one you posted according to the idealscope image.

it is from James Allen.

Wish it was a tad bit darker in the table. Not sure if this is a deal breaker. From all research, looks like it should be rated 'average' instead of excellent cut..according to the Ideal Scope.

i agree with you on that.

but if you take a look at this diamond you will see that although it is a hearts & arrows the idealscope image also shows loss. it makes you wonder how reliable the idealscope really is.

It isn't the IS tool, it's the interpretation of the results it outputs ;)) The numbers on the GIA report are averaged around eight sections of diamond, then rounded and printed. AGSL also averages around the eight sections of diamond. Since we don't know the details of what range(s) went into those averages we don't know details of how the stone varies in proportions.

The HCA is a quick and easy weeding tool that only takes four easily available inputs - but, of course, those inputs are from the GIA/AGS report and you only consider four of them, not all of them! So there is necessarily some error there.

The IS shows you light return face-up, and since it's using the actual stone it automatically considers how all the actual, un-averaged/rounded proportions are working together. But it only takes into account that specific face-up orientation (not a big deal in RBs since there's enough solid knowledge to estimate from there, definitely an issue with static fancy-shape ASET photos though) and it doesn't discriminate between white and coloured light return, and of course the picture must be properly taken (not a problem here).

The stone is fine, which I think is all you care about at the end of the day! Yes, there is some light escape through the pavilion (white under the table) that other stones don't have, but I doubt you'd note it IRL even if comparing to another stone with a blood red IS. You could look for a more "elite" one with less leakage if you prefer, or you can buy this one and know you've got a fine stone.

I would verify that it is eyeclean.

Re: Please rate this diamond! ASAP Ready to Pull TRIGGER!!!!

i'm curious about the 6 to 10 o'clock black marks..

there is also another diamond i am looking at (attached is the idealscope), there is a cavity on the girdle..but James Allen says it is prongable and i should not worry. although im hesitant. there is also a cloud around 3 o'clock i circled in yellow. the gemologist says this shouldnt be an issue..but looks pretty whitish on the idealscope..ahhh which one to go with.

the one with the cavity is around 800 cheaper. should i worry at all about some inclusion that is prongable??

Re: Please rate this diamond! ASAP Ready to Pull TRIGGER!!!!

You cannot judge inclusions from magnified images or from IS images or clarity plots, or ever the type of incusions! You need to see the stone, or have someone trusted see it, and give you their opinion on whether the inclusions can be seen. If neither of those options is appealing, you need to stick to VS2 or better so you don't have to think about it!
