I love the color, too! Not as deep as mine, much more gem-tone beautiful! YAY!

Ah, so you are a member over at purse forum? I go there to drool periodically, but have very little that could impress that crowd.

I want to know it all, but here are some starters.

Any background info you feel comfortable offering? Siblings? Parents? Growing up?

Did you go to college with your FI? How did you meet? What has been your favorite part of wedding planning so far?

What skill or talent are you most proud of? What skill or talent would you want more than anything, but don''t currently have?

What are your favorite movies? Your 3 favorite songs of all time? Your 3 favorite songs right now?

And, since I know you are over in purse forum, what is your favorite handbag? (This obviously requires pics!

) What is your dream handbag?

Thanks kat for your questions!! And thank you for the CL compliment. They are coming today, so I will definitely post foot shots!

I''ll start with the basics:

I grew up mostly in Philadelphia for the first 11 years of my life. My parents owned a home in NJ, but when they divorced, mom moved us (my brother and I) back to Philadelphia to live with our grandmother. I eventually moved to back NJ permanently after the divorce was finalized. My parents both remarried, but my father married this horrible, abusive woman who was physically and emotionally abusive to my brother

. He ended up getting her pregnant, so she forced him to marry her. Eventually, my dad got the strength to get up and leave when I was 16. Meanwhile, while this was going on at my dad''s, I lived with my mom and her husband. I did not get along with him at all, so when my dad left the abuser, I moved in with my dad and my brother moved in with my mom. My dad eventually remarried a wonderful woman, and they are still together.
OK, enough anger inducing stuff, lol!

My dad was married prior to marrying my mother, and he and his ex wife had a child together, so I have an older half brother who is 35. My biological brother will be 20 next month. I also have a half sister from my dad''s third marriage who is 11. My family is slightly disfunctional, but what can you do, ya know?

My biological brother and I are very close, and we hang out probably 2-3x week. He''s a good kid, and I couldn''t imagine life without being so close to him. I also have an aunt who is like my second mother. She has no children, so she equates me to being her child. I love her SO much, but she lives in SC, so I only see her approximately 1x/year.

It''s funny that you ask how I met FI. The story is a quite hilarious, and we love telling people how we met. We didn''t meet in school, though. FI went to tech school for diesel mechanics for two years post HS. He actually wants to go back to school to get an IT certificate. In any event, two years ago, my friend set me up with a friend of hers (we''ll call him J). J and I hung out and casually dated for approximately 3 months before I found out he was seeing someone else. So, while J and I were dating, we hung out with FI one night at a bar. I clearly remember J entering the bar ahead of me, leaving me to pay my own cover charge (I had no cash), and FI was behind me. FI paid, and I felt horrible. J found out FI paid, and then got pretty mad at me because I had his friend pay my cover charge. So we all hung out, and had a blast. I actually helped FI pick up a girl he was intersted in!

He nicknamed me his "wingwoman" later that night, lol!!!!! So we all go home, and that was it. I had NO interest in FI, as he was not my ''type'', so to say. FI myspace friended me later that night, and I added him as a friend.
So Thanksgiving rolls around, and I was at J''s house to celebrate (this was before I knew he was cheating on me), and FI came over to see J''s parents. I remember J''s mom asking FI "When is your sister due? (she was 6 months pregnant), and FI replied "I have no idea". I remember thinking, "Who doesn''t have a clue when their own sibling is birthing their future niece/nephew? What a wacko!". FI left, and I never saw him again.
After J and I stopped seeing each other in January of ''08, I was extremely angry at what he did to me, so I removed J and FI from my myspace friends. About a month later, FI messages me and says "Why did you take me off your friends?" I explained to him the whole situation with J, and he was like "Ok, I understand, but I did nothing wrong, and I think you''re pretty cool." I replied back, thinking nothing of it, when FI sends me his phone number. I hesitated in calling because I remember having no interest in him from the bar night, but figured "What the hell?" and called. Now, here we are, 8 months out from our wedding!

I just started a new job at a local hospital doing case management for mentally ill adults. I worked in a partial care outpaitent day program for mentally ill adults for over two years prior to starting here in September. I love my job SO much!! I came from a pretty deplorable workplace, so I am beyond thrilled to work in a place that values their employees so much. I''m also not stuck at a deak all day; I am able to go out into the field and work hands on with clients.

Whew!!! Thanks for allowing me to relive that! It always makes me smile!!!

Honestly, I love every minute of the planning (except family drama!), but if I had to pick only one, my favorite part of wedding planning so far has to be finding and completing DIY projects. We''re going for a very laid back, casual, but elegant wedding (if that makes sense, lol!), and I''m trying to put a lot of little handmade touches to everything. I''m a very detail-oriented person, so I want that to show in the decor, paper products, etc. I also love to do crafty things, so DIY projects are right up my alley. Once FI and I get settled into our new place next week, I''ll post some pictures of my projects.

My skill that I am most proud of is actually my ability to learn. I have this huge desire to know so much, and I try to soak up as much knowledge as I possibly can (which is why my dad said I should be a professional student, lol). I try and educate myself to the fullest in domains I am interested in, and I''m so proud that I have such great learning skills. My talent that I am most proud of is my singing. I am not too shaby of a singer, and I LOVE to sing. I placed in a few karaoke contests last year when I was very active and karaoked 2 nights/week. I''ve sang on stage at the Eagles games with an amazing local and pretty famous band quite a few times, and I''ve also sang on the radio.
One skill/talent I wish I had was the ability to draw. I am an absolutely horrible drawer, and I wish I would improve my drawing skills. I''m not even talking about artistic quality drawing, but just some semblance of the ability to draw!

My favorite movies are the following: Grandma''s Boy, Beerfest, The Simpsons Movie, 21, Wanted, The Ringer, Wet Hot American Summer and The Darjeeling Limited. I don''t know why I have a penchant for crude comidies, but whenever I need a good laugh, I just pop in Grandma''s Boy or Beerfest, and my mood improves tenfold.

My top 3 favorite songs EVER are: "Fever" by Elvis

30.gif
30.gif
, "Just the Way You Look Tonight" by Ol'' Blue Eyes, Frank Sinatra, and "Don''t Stop Believing" by Journey. (Pretty odd, eh?
9.gif
) I am also a HUGE Hall and Oates fan. I really love cheesy 80''s rock, maybe more so than normal, lol!

Currently, my three favorite songs are: "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga, "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga, and "Meet Me Halfway" by the Black Eyed Peas.

My favorite handbag is a gorgeous limited edition Coach signature bag that has gold leather straps and brass hardware. I''m not carrying it today, but will definitely post a picture when I get home. My dream bag is a Balenciaga Giant covered day in Green, because the color is so intense and rich (see attached!)

And, I have to say that the new avitar is quite drool-worthy!

As an only child myself, I am always jealous to hear when people are close to siblings. Of course, your relationships really seem to run the gambit, but it is super to cool to have your bio-brother near you and have such a great relationship!

I
30.gif
the story of how you met your FI! It is so serendipitous and I love hearing stories like that. It makes me think that people are sometimes just meant to be together, ya know? It also shows that he was kind and thoughtful from the start, which I also love hearing. And, it has to feel pretty cool to be pursued.

What a rewarding job!! Do you get to have close relationships with your patients? It has to be so cool to see them grow and be able to know how much you are doing for them. Do you have a lot of turnover in patients? Or, is it more of a long-term facility?

You will be so happy about your DIY projects at the end, too. I went a little overboard, but it is so cool to look at my photos and think about all the time DH and I spent folding the cranes, how covered in ink we were doing all the gocco stuff, etc. I cannot wait to see your projects.

So, what do you sing when you karaoke? Do you have old standbys or is it more your favorite songs at the moment? What is your favorite place to go to for karaoke like? I think it is mega-awesome that you got to sing at the Eagles game! That is soooooo cool. As someone who cannot sing and is crazy introverted, I am jealous of both your talent and your willingness to share it. I do, though, agree with your dad that you could always be a professional student, too. I am really sad that my time as one is about to run out so I could live vicariously through you.

I also love crude comedies. The last time my mom came to visit, I had Superbad in the DVD player in the guest room, so she watched, like, 20 minutes of it and seriously gave me a lecture about how terrible it was for someone my age to be watching such "vulgar humor" which I got a big kick out of. There is a theater by my house that is also a bar and they have throwback movies and beer tastings every summer. DH and I went to see Wet Hot American Summer a few weeks back--such a classic!

I also love Lady Gaga right now. DH makes so much fun of me for it, but I think she is such a good singer. I am more like you in that I generally love more classic and eclectic stuff, but damn is she catchy.

That Balenciaga bag is flat gorgeous! I also love the color and you can just tell how buttery soft it would be to touch. I also love Coach bags because they are generally just so classic--sure they have had the whole puffy bag hiccup, but the leather ones are timeless.

Of course there is more I want to know!

What would your FI say is his favorite thing about you?

What is your favorite day/time-of-year/annual event?

Do you and your FI want to have kids? If so, when? If not, what else are you looking forward to doing together?
