maybe 2.

I like number two better based on numbers, but you should make sure it''s eye-clean since it''s an SI2.

I agree with all of the above, but the thick part of the girdle would bother me. It''s making the diamond face up smaller than a 1.5 ct . should. A 1.5 should be 7.4mm in diameter.

Really, you can find better diamonds than these.

Okay, here''s another one that adds about $1000 to the price.

Just to add to the discussion, neither my fiance nor myself are EXTREMELY picky when it comes to the diamond. Not that we don''t want a very nice looking and sparkly one, but we also want something that is reasonable in price. (if that is possible!)

Diamond #3:
Measurements: 7.42 - 7.46 x 4.55mm
1.54ct
J color
VS2 clarity
Excellent cut grade
Depth: 61.2%
Table: 57%
Crown Angle: 34 deg
Crown Height: 14.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41 deg
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star Length: 55%
Lower half: 80%
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

How about this one as compared to the other 2?

Thanks again!

Now this new one looks like the best so far!!!

What is the price?

I'll probably tell you what /I'd/ get for the same amount.

Okay, now if you have a moment could you explain to me what makes you say that this is the best one and also what negatives might be associated with it? Will this give us a good "WOW" factor?

I appreciate the feedback!

The only positives I see over 2 are the "excellent" symmetry and the girdle.

Nothing that screams wow to me...

However, I do know that diamondseeker favors VS stones.

The first 2 are around $7400 and the third is around $8400.

With the caveat that it is eye-clean or eye-cleanish, depending on your level of comfort, and that the inclusions do not make it look cloudy:

1.55 J SI2, 8K http://www.diamondexpert.com/diamonds/dbs.cgi?sf=detd.setup.cgi&active=active&stock=RB60107541&submit_search=1 Would be a good choice if you're looking for one of the finest cut diamonds.

If you want just under 1.5 (you'll notice that it's bigger than 2)

For non H&A:
1.56 I SI1 8.5K http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?b=16&a=12&cid=131&item=860626 (needs Sarin and Ideal Scope)
1.58 J VS2 7.8K http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?b=16&a=12&cid=131&item=859907
1.59 J SI1 7.8K http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?b=16&a=12&cid=131&item=937925
-You might ask which one is whiter. the slightly shallow crown on the last one might improve color?

Julie, since I am still new at this could you explain what makes your suggestion that much better than the ones I presented here?

I appreciate the help, immensely....

pictures.

Okay, so then the last one that I posted isn''t necessarily any worse than the one you provided but I won''t know until I see pictures or the diamond in person. Is that correct?

Lol! Actually, that is true but had nothing to do with my thought process! I also favor I color over J, but I had other things I did not like about the first two stones. #2 is 1.5 cts and has a diameter of 7.26-7.32 when it should have a diameter of 7.4mm. I assume it is the thick girdle that is causing that. I just woudn't want a 1.5 that faced up like a 1.4 or so. The SI2 would be a concern if it is not in-house.

The 3rd stone has ideal cut measurements and girdle, polish, and symmetry are all fine.

I haven't checked all the stones Julie listed, but I do personally favor Good Old Gold and WhiteFlash because they carry stones in-house and you get a lot more info up front. That is very important if you are looking at SI stones, IMO.

ETA: This one does look great! http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2039/

Thanks for the input... right now I''m leaning towards Diamond #3....
