Hello everyone I've been banging my head for days.........I need some opinions! I’m looking for a small dainty eternity band, for my wedding band! About .50 total carats!

I've heard this is not very practical...that the diamonds can smash, fall out ect......I've been told to do a half eternity band. I don't really like the look!

So then I had a thought why not do two wedding bands, a simple band and an eternity band.

In my day to day life I can wear the simple one....but when I go out I can pop the eternity on!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Will they be insured? If so, losing diamonds would be less of a problem. Will it be from Birks as well? Don't they have some sort of policy that if the diamonds are lost within a year (or was it longer?), they'll be replaced free of charge?

My main concern with a full eternity would be sizing problems. Pregnancy, arthritis, weight gain/loss would all make the ring unwearable over time. I know at least three women who now wear their wedding ring on a necklace or not at all.

Who was it on this board that said an eternity band is like a tiny little chain saw between your fingers? I agree. I have a pretty large 1/2 band that was done custom so that you really can't tell that it's a 1/2 band. Love it. Also, I am SO rough, and I've never had a problem!

Hi Veronika,

I totally agree with More's description of a tiny chainsaw (prong set), but I am still convinced I can get one too

. I am now looking for either a very smooth rounded bar setting or channel setting. Trying on a tiny (.46ctw) Lieberfarb design convinced me! I have larger knuckles than finger size, so it could spin all it likes on my finger. As far as damaging the stones - oh well! I think I will get 18K white gold instead of platinum, so that the cost will be much lower (probably under $400). If I need to get it fixed or replaced in the future, it won't be a huge cash outlay.
