I looked at this stone. It really sparkles. However, it has strong fluorescence and the GIA report number is 6147379539. The cert is over a year old and this merchant at a NY diamond district owns this diamond. He is asking for $16K. The thing that worries me is the cloud in the report. Merchant does not take photos.

I have a budget of around $15-16K.
Thanks.

A cloud in a VS2 shouldn't be a problem.

As for the fluor - do you like that effect? Rarely it can cause a stone to look oily or milky in strong direct sunlight, and that is something the vendor *should* be able to tell you. If you can, see it for yourself - look at it on a sunny day outdoors.

FWIW, I have a D color w/ SB fluor and I love it!

All the specs on the stone look fine - HCA = 1.9 (good). Don't worry about a cert a year old. No biggie.

Today was a cloudy day. I took the stone outside to have a look, and it looks good. I have it on hold till Monday and I will take a closer look. Hopefully, we'll have a sunny day.
The first thing that captured me with this stone was how brilliant it shines. I didn't notice any blue hues so I guess I have to say I like the blue fluorescence.

I'd like others to chime in to see whether the asking price of $16K is too high.

I have looked at this stone today. Here are the photos.
Please let me know if this is a quality stone.

Assuming stone 1 and stone 2 are similarly priced, which one would you prefer.
Stone 1 has a larger diameter 7.69 vs 7.46 for stone 2. This is my dilemma.
This is stone 2's GIA report.

nice looking stone!

The stone that sortmon posted in gorgeous and belonged to a veteran poster who really knows how to pick a good one! =) If I were searching for a similar stone, it would be my choice. That said, both of your choices look nice. I'd be sure that you are buying with a return policy though, and ask about an upgrade or trade in, if you think you may want to trade up for a larger stone in the future.

Finally, this is the stone I think I will be selecting.
Is there anything I should be concerned about this stone?

Looks like you have some beautiful options!

Thanks. All these stones I had mentioned are about the same price. I am going for the last one because it has a good spread and no fluorescence. People I spoke with it is safer to go for one that has no fluorescence. This stone has great sparkles, saw it in direct sunlight and shade.

Do you think a 1.8mm or 2.0mm shank will be strong enough ? I am going for a simple 4 prong platinum setting.
