Hi all,

This is for an engagement ring. I need some help with choosing the right diamond. WOuld like to choose between the four listed below. Preference for the first two because the price/quality. Second one is bigger, but the first one has better specs. eg. clarity, polish and symmetry. The bigger one costs 200 dollar more and actually not that much bigger. 4.98 x 4.96 x 3.07 mm vs 5.08 x 5.06 x 3.14 mm. Which one would you choose?

Thank you!

D.

edit-

First one. Cut, Polish, and Symmetry are all Ex (Triple Ex), Girdle is medium (don't want too thin or too thick), VS1 will almost certainly be eyeclean, and you won't be able to tell a difference between a 0.46 and 0.50 ct diamond.

Are they all GIA or AGS certified?

Hi! They are all GIA certified. Only thing to worry is: certification shown in Blue Nile is more than 6 months old. Do I need to worry about bad quality, since this can mean that someone has returned this diamond and therefore Cerificate is quite outdated compare to the other diamonds they offered there?

Yes, the first one has the best quality. Since these diamonds are so small, I thought 0.46 and 0.5 could make a difference when mounted on the engagement ring. Is the price ok? I prefere the first two, looking at the price/quality balance.

I will not choose any of the above 4. But if I must, will be option 1.

For my further consideration, I will try to stick with the following table: 54-56, depth: 60-61.8. You also can use the HCA on this forum for diamond performance expectation.

Are you sure you want something that high in Color? G and H will look just as white to most people and you will be able to get more carat for your money

Moreover, if you aren't particularly good at discerning different colors, this K color 0.71 carat diamond is a great option. It is an ACA again (best cut you can get), I recently bought a very similar 0.77 ct K color, ACA, from whiteflash, and it looks very white from the top view.

Also, its only 2k for a 0.7 ct diamond with ideal cut.
