Hi guys

I was just in the family section saying hi after a very long absence. (Post: I've come full circle).

To recap...my engagement ring was beautifully set by ERD in a LEON 3 stone setting (2006).
(2.6ct diamond, H, SI2, Sides: 0.32ct pear each Finger size 6).

I still adore my setting...my poor husband might still be feeling the aftermath of it...hee-hee! The only problem is that after a very difficult few years I have lost quite a lot of weight (this is a good thing :appl: ). My original ring size was 6, I think my new size would be a 5 possibly 4.5-ish. My current ring is doing a spinning dance on my finger and it's just not safe to wear anymore. I would rather not resize the ring...I still love it so much, trading it is not an option either. We live very far from ERD so recreating the setting is not an option as well. There's also the issue that I might be a size 6 again (I go up and down all the time, I have a retail store from size 2 to 14 in my closest). :angryfire:

Lastly, since I've had a baby I feel that I need a stronger robust type of a setting. That's one thing about my original setting that has always bugged me...it's so dainty. Yet, so pretty.

SOOOOO, if I have not lost you all by now... In a nutshell, I'm thinking that I should keep the 3 stone for future weight gain and simply reset my center stone, the 2.6 diamond, in a very strong platinum setting. Similar to a Michael Bondanza Madison. Pictures attached. If you guys could suggest similar settings that are WOW I would be happy to take a lookie...Please let me know.

Thank you so much!

My choice hands down would be the Sholdt semi-bezel.

Elle_chris has her 2.5 ct stone set in it here. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-sholdt-semi-bezel.93098/

Great suggestions guys! Would love to see a few more settings if any plain platinum settings comes to mind.

I love the Sholdt setting & that diamond is amazing - my eyes went boing boing!!!!

I love the Scholdt. That fist one looks a bit masculine to me.

I agree -the Scholdt is still substantial but has a much sleeker, more feminine look.

here are a few pics of PS-er rings that I've saved over the years for eye candy, i thought maybe something might take your fancy. as you can probably tell I have a thing for bezels- so if you are not keen and want prongs then all of these will be useless to you.

I vote for the Sholdt as well! ElleChris's ring is one of my pricescope favorites. I am having my EC set in the Sholdt semi-bezel right now. I should get it this week. I went to a local jeweler who carries the line to try it on before committing to it. I loved it!!! I went thru Pearlmans after getting a price quote from them and BGD. Julian has been helping me and is wonderful to work with.

I totally agree, It is really-really beautiful setting! Is Elle_Chris still an active member? I would love to hear from her...just wondering if it's a setting she wears every day with the kids or if she removes it...worries about it...

Just curious...Am I the only freak lady that worries about my setting and removes jewelry when I get home? - I always worry about my setting and diamond. Chipping the diamond...knocking the setting...
I think that's why I'm looking for a strong plain platinum setting so that I can wear my diamond with pride and rock it, once and for all! I feel really guilty for not wearing it as much. Also, it's big so not very comfortable at the moment...but even so, when it was a nice fit I did remove it constantly. Not very smart...I know...

How do you guys feel about sizing beads or bars?

okay, now I'm starting to play with the idea of a halo...

No. Not with kids if you want something lifestyle friendly and no fragile. There is nothing more fragile than pave (in terms of well made).

I agree with Gypsy. I have a two year old and wanted to be able to wear my ring without worrying, so I ended up doing a bezel. It allows me to wear my ring the majority of the day and not risk major damage to the setting or center diamond.

It doesn't matter if you only wear it out too. Kids are menaces once they start walking. Just holding hands with one in an adventure unless they are feeling compliant. Grocery shopping, going to the park, anything at all can be a hazardous experience to a ring that is on your finger and getting knocked about as you subdue, cajole, chase the little monsters.

MrsSalvo had a gorgeous halo and she got the best quality anywhere for it. She also has multiple kids. Sold the halo. Kept the kids. Just not lifestyle friendly.

I have one of the most lifestyle friendly halos I know of. And while my style might work for you, with a 2.5 carat stone that's a lot of possible damage. And pave damages easily.

I think if any of us considered getting rid of our kids for our setting, we would need to take a break from PS.

I think you'll find that a great many of us do not wear our rings around the house - particularly when doing household chores. Just not worth the risk. There are some that do and some would argue that even in the car or at work or during shopping a ring can still be damaged. It's true but I don't bang around in the kitchen or the yard with my rings on - just not willing to take that risk!

I think your current ring is absolutely fine to wear if you'd put sizing beads (or another type of sizer) in it. As others have said, many of us take off our rings when doing work around the house just to keep our rings in good condition. I do that if I had the Sholdt ring just to keep the metal in good condition! I like your current ring better than any of the others posted on this thread!

Cracking myself at..."sold the halo, kept the kids" ha ha!

Back to business...
I'm trying to get my ducks in a row...I've been searching setting pictures online and a few grabbed my attention. I like the idea of working on a new design. Any comments?

the sholdt semi bezel was the first one I thought of too...I prefer it to all the other's you've posted (except your original set which is    too!)

Another who LOVES the Sholdt Semi Bezel! I have a full bezel and kids, and try to take it off for housework & cooking, sleeping & showering... but even so it's nice to have that protection!

You don't seem to be going for the Sholdt though, so my second fave is the Bondanza you posted. That strikes me as a setting that doesn't translate it's beauty in pictures. It would be unique, in a simple, classic, almost understated way, yet it would still grab attention. Sometimes I just love the look of a good bit of liquid metal on the finger - and I imagine the Bondanza provides that!!

Of all that have been posted, I vote for the Sholdt. It's one of my all time favorite settings, ever. I love plain and simple settings. If you like a full bezel instead of semi, Coati's double bezel is gorgeous, or JbEG's Julia bezel.

I have the Sholdt semi bezel that Gypsy posted (though a smaller center stone).

It's fluid, sleek, smooth...wonderful. It doesn't catch on anything. No prongs to scratch babies with (not that I have any...but friends/family do).

It's a great choice.

A few other Sholdt's you may like:

I feel like the middle two pictures look too much like a man's ring...It's SO bulky! I know you're going for secure, but the Scholdt ring is stunning and as others have said, it's a great option for someone that's looking for something sturdier. And it's beyond gorgeous and will still show your diamond off great!

Sorry guys, I kind off put the reset on hold for a little while but I wanted to thank you for your recommendations. You guys are awesome. I adore the Scholt semi bezel. Audball, you are a lucky duck! It's gorgeous. What I really want is a 5ct. Round in a bezel or semi bezel setting. Ha ha! That's a joke! Hee hee! I can dream, right???

Hi Audball,

If it's not too much trouble, can you post some more pictures of your gorgeous setting. I can't get enough of it!
I just love it!!!
