Can you please give me your option on this Tacori platinum setting. The model is HT2551CU halo setting in platinum.

My Wife loves everything about the setting but we are having a hard time justifying the price. A local jeweler has a Tacori event this weekend offering a $1500.00 discount. The retail price is $13,200.00 before the discount.

We would be happy if a less expensive option could be custom made, but you never know what the finished product will look like until it is completed.

The stone that we picked out is a round brilliant GIAxxx G color VS1 9.0mm stone with an HCA of .8

I will be happy to post a picture when the project is completed.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful setting, but for $12,000???! That's the price of a really nice, sizable diamond. I'm sure you could find something similar in looks without the crazy price tag.

I was obsessed with a particular Tacori design when I was first looking at rings... They aren't worth the price -- especially if it's not a style that only Tacori does well. I feel like this style could easily be made by Victor Canera or Steven Kirsch for a lot less... and be better quality.

Tacori ads are beautiful. I'm just not very impressed with it in real life.

If your jeweler carries Christopher Designs, they have similar style settings for cheaper. http://www.genesisdiamonds.net/engagement-rings/christopher-designs.html

Christopher Designs did a custom setting for me. It was really beautiful. They do nice work. For comparison, my first stone was 8.7 mm.

That price is "commit me to an asylum" crazy. The only setting I would pay that much for is an MC2 setting. Never for Tacori. I adore MSOPs setting. See if your wife likes that one and order it for your stone!

I 100% agree with this. I also was obsessed with a particular Tacori design (to be honest, I do still LOVE IT), but they aren't at all worth the price. One of the known designers here mentioned above could definitely execute something like this for less money with far superior quality. I know the Tacori ads are gorgeous and their styles look like they are one of a kind, but they often aren't and are incredibly overpriced for what they are.

I was just thinking you might want to double check the price of your center stone to make sure that's a fair price too if you still have the option to do something about it.

Tacori retail prices are crazy. I like msop's setting more than the Tacori, actually.

$13,000 for the setting?!?!?! I had NO idea Tacori was so expensive!!!! That is complete insanity!!!

At the very least have your wife look at some other settings (like Msop's which is gorgeous) before you commit to that investment.

OMYGOODNESS!! That is really the price for just the setting?? Ummmmm...NO WAY. I would use a gluedot and tinfoil before I would get that setting. Please review this website for settings by Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch, Leon Mege, Brilliantly Engaged, Caysie Van Beber, Erika Winters. If you and your fiance want to spend a lot of money on a setting, totally possible, but don't get completely RIPPED OFF.

Before you spend that much money, you owe it to yourself and your fiance to do more research first. Good luck!

That's a really beautiful setting but if I were going to spend that much money I would be getting something one-of-a-kind. I also find it strange that they're charging you $3600 more to set a larger stone (MSRP for a "stock" size...usually 1 carat....is $9600). That just seems like price gouging to me.

The setting for a one carat stone is scaled smaller than a ring made for a 3 ct stone. Some of them come in small, medium, and large sizes. So it is a greater amount of metal and diamonds on the larger rings. The one carat is probably the small size.

I agree that the retail prices are all too high, but there is a reason for the different sizes to be priced differently.

I would personally rather have a ring made just like msop's because I actually like it much more than the Tacori. Unfortunately their stone is a little too large for her setting.

DS is right... sadly, the 9.0 mm stone the OP has selected would be 0.15 mm too large for my setting. #welldang ;))

Ordering it in platinum adds a couple thousand dollars to the base price for 18k white gold, and as diamondseeker said, there are additional stepped, price increases for the semi-mounts fabricated for larger center stones. This retailer's page for HT 2251CU makes this more clear, but even its drop-down menu for center stone size stops at 1.75 ct

Yes, I understand there is more metal/bigger diamonds in a larger ring. I was just saying that I don't think there's $3600 worth of metal/diamonds in a larger ring.

The Tacori setting HT2551CU in platinum has been ordered and expect to have it within 3 weeks.

The reason we decided to go with this setting over many other choices was because of the following.

The design is very simple and clean from the top yet very elegant and not overstated or boastful. On the sides it has beautiful hand carved detailing that gives it a vintage sort of look and it had the width in the shank that my wife was looking for.

I will not disagree that it is very over priced, however it had everything that she was looking for and it definitely called out to her every time she saw it.

Thanks for looking.
