I'm not Gypsy, sorry, I'm sure she'll be along soon!

You've posted stones with a broad range of price- what is your budget? All of these are eye clean ACAs so will be good performers. Are you saying the color and clarity are now less of an issue for you? If it were me I'd pick 1 or 2.

I'm with DS on the .90 Whiteflash stone. The HCA is .4..remember this is not a selection tool, but performance of a round brilliant cut diamond. A score below 2 means you have eliminated known poor performers. However you may have a personal preference for a diamond with an HCA score of 1.5 more rather than one with a lower score of say 0.5. Anyway what is your budget as Snowdrop asked because I also like the .812 I VS2 stone...the HCA is 1.1. So if price is a consideration this stone is small, but almost 1/2 the price of the .90 due to color and size. If you have a limited budget this would be a good stone as well.

:wavey: Hopefully Gypsy will chime in soon!

Hi, Crazie4cuts! We usually don't even recommend using the HCA on AGS graded stones and definitely not superideal cuts like ACAs. All of the ACAs are great. But you are 100% correct that the budget would definitely dictate which one to choose! I was just assuming all of these were possible for the OP to buy. But if any are above budget, we definitely could reassess and choose a smaller one!

Hi. Sorry so late to respond. Busy day.

There's really not a bad choice. I'll walk you through my reasoning.

If you have the budget and want something completely mindclean you can go for H VS2. I personally wouldn't buy that one, and would buy this one instead: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3586209.htm?source=pricescope#

Why? It's almost 1000 dollars less than the .90 H Vs2. I can't even see the inclusions in the magnified picture. And it's 6.2mm.

I would ask Whiteflash if that feather is safe. It should be if it's an ACA. But double check. But I can't see spending 6500 and not getting on the H Vs2 and not getting a full carat.

That said, if you are setting it in a halo, I wouldn't bother going with a 90 point stone. And I'd get this one: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3653201.htm At 6mm it is going to look exactly like the 90 pointer once in a halo. And you can put the extra funds toward a higher quality halo, where you can really see the difference.

If you do have 6500 for a stone, this is the stone I'd get: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.06-carat-h-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1857458 or this one: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.03-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1834554

It gives you a full carat at H color. And they have fantastic light return confirmed with an ASET.

If you are spending 6500 on an H color stone, you should, IMO, be getting a carat.

I am a little confused. You did not buy this yet, did you? Because you should always buy the diamond and the setting at the same time. If this is the setting you want, I would get one of the diamonds Gypsy just listed because you can have James Allen set the diamond in the setting. I really like this one since I am fond of H VS2 ;)) :

This is not a good setting choice if it's a gift. It's a very large bulky and masculine setting. It's not AT ALL in style right now. And will make your center stone look small.

Did the wearer specifically ask for a channel set setting??

Alternative settings I'd recommend at JA:

https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/channel-set/14k-white-gold-tapered-baguette-and-princess-engagement-ring-item-50137 This one is lovely, and looks fantastic on the hand. It's a very flattering setting. First choice.

https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/14k-white-gold-inspired-diamond-engagement-ring-item-41042 Second choice, you can see it set with one carat centers and it looks great.

https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/designer-engagement-rings/14k-white-gold-emily-engagement-ring-item-54215 Channel set that is still contemporary.
