I've been looking for a pair of carved amethyst earrings like this for over 5 years with no success. I believe the flower to be the removable jacket and the center round is a stud setting. Please point me in the right direction if you've seen something like this.

Hmm.... why not do a search for carved amethyst beads?
They could double as earring jackets (depending on the drill hole and how thick the beads are).

Quick search found:

The second link looks pre-drilled. If not already drilled, who will do this for me? Those are very pretty but the colouration is very uneven and doesn't show enough detail. It's the nicest I've seen though.

Chrono: those flower beads are fairly pervasive (if that's the right word). You should not have a problem finding them predrilled. I would hold out for quality with good color, and no, you are not too fussy to want what you want. After all, its your vision! Check places like Rio Grande since they very well could have the petal part and of course, the makings for the rest.

Minou,
Now you are making admit publicly that I am too lazy to find my own bits and pieces to put together. I'd prefer to find something already "assembled". I found plenty of amethyst flower beads on eBay but they look very generic and cheapish.

LD,
Yes, it's really me. I want something dainty, simple and feminine for days that I don't want to stand out. I need earring studs that can handle my workouts (it is very intense and physical so anything with pave is out of the question) but solitaire studs feel too simplistic. Not only that, I hate that I end up smudging the table when wearing them so a carved earring takes care of that. I rather like the lavender adventurine. It is translucent enough with pleasant colouration and a good bit of detail. I'm impressed with the wavy 3D effect of the petals. The remaining suggested earrings are so blah. You may throw up now.

VL,
I had found the Stauer earrings in my search. BTW, your link didn't work for me but a quick search took care of that. The flower isn't elegant enough and I cannot wear dangles for my workouts (might snag and tear my lobes - yes, you read it correctly. As it is, I'm happy to even be allowed to wear studs). I would LOVE to wear the one on Etsy but alas, it was sold last month and is a true estate piece which means there isn't another pair like that available. :(sad

I wouldn't say you are fussy. I put a bid on them, this thread gave me an idea.

I don't blame you. [and secretly pleased that you are too ahem, "lazy" to put them together because with all that you do we'd all have to think you're superwoman...]

I think you will need to contact a carver and have them made. Hans meevis?

I would love to watch Chrono work out in a pair of these.

Curious how they would hold up!

Which one?

Minou,
Didn't you know that I am a superhero? Shhhhh.....I'm on my off day so I get to be lazy for a while.

VL,
Gorgeous earring and I hope it comes with the other matching pair. Not a durable earring though. :naughty:

If I go with the first pair that LD suggested, which one do most of you prefer? The white or lavender? I'm thinking white is more versatile as I can swap the centre pearl for other coloured gemstones but the lavender is different.

Either will look pretty but it depends on what you're going to have as the central earring. A small pearl or silver ball will look lovely with the lavender but will pale out with white. On the white you could have plain gold balls. So, do you prefer white or yellow gold and which do you wear most?

With your colouring I think the lavender will look gorgeous but the white will be lovely for summer. How about getting both?

That hasn't helped has it!?

Ms LD,
You are indeed quite cheeky today. But I will consider getting both since they are so inexpensive.

 I'm assuming you've seen my Facebook post then?

All joking aside, I would get both as they are inexpensive and if they arrive and you hate them you can always sell them on.
