Hello, many of you probably have a better eye for evaluating asschers than I do. I would appreciate any thoughts that you might have on this stone:

1.74 F VVSI
Table: 60
Depth: 69.7
Sym: Ex
Polish: Ex
Crown Height: 15.8

Thanks everone!

Yikes, looks kind of like the entire center is gray and white, which I read to be leakage. If you'd like to see what good asscher images look like, take a look at this one that a member here is considering:

I will also add that the one you are looking at has pretty small corners, so it is not the most attractive shape, either.

See all the gray in the first picture? That's bad.

Hmm that' disappointing. So is the consensus that I should move on?

A stone with this look is out of the question. Budget?

12-15k

Any suggestions on stones within that range?

That one does look promising. The corners are still a little small though. How would I go about getting an aset for that diamond? Would B2C have one on hand?

Wow Woofmama that one is stunning. That's a little more than I'd like to spend, but not out of the question. Any idea how much the wire discount would be?

If it is not out of the question, seriously consider it. wire discount is not much, you can ask Customer Service in their chat what PS discount + wire discount is.

If you do an ASET request on it, here are some more from JA for consdieration: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/emerald-cut/?DefaultOrder&TabSelected=3&ps=15&DiamondID=230851,36783,252748,307498

The H SI1 is nice if it is eyeclean.

If you do ASET requestion from B2C, here is one more: http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-4714818-1.55-carat-Asscher-diamond-G-color-VVS2-clarity.aspx

As Julie recommends, inquire what your final cost would be. I'm dying to see the ASET for this one so I hope you consider it!

I went ahead and requested the ASET on Woofmama's 1.74. I'll post it here when I receive it.

Any thoughts on this one?

You get to pick three stones per interaction at JA, so please do pick two others! Julie linked some for you. If you like any of them request ASETs now because they won't allow you to add on after 24 hours I think.

edited to add: I like the 1.62 E and the 1.58 E. from Julie'''s link.

This diamond is gorgeous but is pushing your budget: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/asscher-cut/1.74-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-sku-252777

I found it a month or so ago and have looked at it maybe 200 times! They do offer a wire discount so if you are even remotely interested put it on hold & request an ASET and review. If I win the lottery it's mine :Up_to_something:

 Gosh, rarely do I see an asscher that I really love, but this one definitely qualifies (subject to the ASET, but it looks like it will be good!). Look at that 55% table and beautiful crown! Gorgeous!!!

Is it tricky to find a great Asscher.
Some will look great in photos & have great numbers, but don't perform.
People on PS understand more about this cut than the average gemologist-on-the-street, so you are in good hands.
Best to you in your search!

The JA 1.74 ct J VS1 is stunning; I would expect a very good ASET.
