Hi,

I have been talking with WF (Katie and Bob have been great to work with, answering all my questions!) about ordering a pair of their 3 prong martini set earrings. I am trying to decide between 2 pairs.

The first set is larger 1.32 ctw, but not as good cut. I also don''t know if they are eye-clean:

The second set is slightly smaller 1.22ctw, but ACA H&A:

It''s the age old questiong between size and cut. I am leaning towards the ACA H&A (I have them on hold) because Whiteflash told me that the difference in millimeters between the two sets is negligible, but the difference in cut is significant. Do you think I could see the difference between the 2 sets in size and if so, do you think the 2nd set makes up for it in cut?

Finally, if you think I should go with the ACA H&A, this is a 3rd stone that is very similar to the other two stones. I don''t know what is the best way to choose 2 out of the 3 because they all seem so similar. Anyone have any suggestions about which 2 to choose. I need to make a decision tomorrow.

Thank you in advance for your opinions!

.5 pts is negligible size difference

I think H VS2 ACAs are a bit of an indulgence for earrings but if you''re time pressed, maybe that''s all there is.

Did you look at their expert selection stones?? ACA''s are awesome, but I went with ES for my studs. Not the ready to go, I hand picked the stones (well virtually, hehe). These stones just miss the ACA mark and offer a great value. I know you are pressed for time, but worth looking into. Good luck!!!

Well, I''ll have to tell you that I had those .61''s on hold myself recently but just couldn''t decide for sure on the size I wanted! But I definitely chose the two that are .611 each (#122953 and 54)...they are a better match than the one that is .61. Guess I waited too long to decide, huh?

Thank you for your opinions! Kaleigh, I don''t know how I missed the ES option! But I just checked and they don''t have anything currently that would fit what I am looking for.

Diamondseeker, how did you figure that the 2 .611''s were a better match? Were you going by carat weight or measurements? I see that they are a better match by carat weight, but the measurements for all 3 seem so similar. I guess I''m asking how did you distinguish that those 2 were better than the 3rd? That''s funny that you had the same stones on hold! The perfect stones for you are or will be out there!

I just upgraded my ACA studs from WF to 1.16 ctw. They are a GREAT size, noticable, but something you can wear anytime, anywhere! I personally would go with the better cut if you can afford it, but that''s just me. These things are incredible.

And, sometimes pickins are slim, and yes, you may end up with more clarity than you need or want, but they''ve only got so many...

Hi Ellen, Thank you for your help! I am hoping to wear my studs everyday too! With the promotion that Whiteflash is running this month (5% off setting with purchase of ACA stone), the ACA set only ends up being about $100 more than the larger set with the poorer cut. I am really leaning towards the ACA set now--I just can''t wait to see the sparkle!

Are you kidding, only 100.00 more?? Order those babies and get out your shades.

Also, ask WF to look at all 3 stones and pick the best match!

Yep - gotta agree. The better cut will actually make the diamonds LOOK bigger than a slightly heavier but less well cut pair.

Congrats in advance on a great choice.

No, I didn''t go by weight, I looked at diameter and table size, etc. The one I did not choose has a larger diameter variation than the other two. Plus, the other two have thin to medium girdles and the other has thin to slightly thick, I think. It may be that all three look identical, but the two .611''s looked most closely matched to me.

I hope to figure out what the perfect stones are for me eventually..you''re getting a great pair!

Thanks again for all your opinions! I have definitely decided to go with the ACA stones. And I''ll ask WF again about which 2 of the 3 they would recommend. I appreciate your help!

Interesting thread. I enjoyed reading it from start to end. Good job at making such a quick choice.

Aljdewey says that the better cut will make the stones look larger. I''ve heard that on PS before. I''d love to see photos showing this.

Can''t wait to see photos of your lovely new earrings. They will be stunning.

So I decided to go with the 2nd set of stones, which are the ACA''s. WF and I couldn''t distinguish much of a difference betwen the 3 ACA stones so I went ahead and bought the ones I had on hold since they were the ones that initially appealed to me! I''m very excited! Katie from WF is going to send me pics of the earrings as soon as they are ready and I should have the earrings by next week! My husband is allowing me to try them on to make sure I like them for a few days, but then they have to go back in their box until Christmas! Thanks again for all the help!

That''s great news! Would you possibly be able to take a picture of them on your ear? I''d really love to see how that size looks!

Hi Diamondseeker, I will try to get an ear shot, but that means I will have to find a photographer! I''m the photographer in our family, but I bet I could get my dad to take it. I am interested to see how they look on my ears too. I''ve tried on 1 ctw and 1.5 ctw before and I knew I wanted something in between the two of those, but I never got the chance to actually try on a pair between those 2 sizes. So we''ll see!
