After trying to learn as much as possible in a short period of time, I have narrowed my search down to these 4 (I am mad because there was an awesome one from GOG that I had my eye on Friday and it must have got sold). Any help choosing amongst these would be much appreciated (I realize one is smaller than the rest - I am wondering what poeple think of it because I may save the money and do something special for my girlfriend with it). The first two are WF and the last two are GOG:

Thanks in advance to all. Apologies for asking for opinions again, but I would love to see how people distinguish these 4.

i would pick #2. i like that it is ags0 (double bonus!) and the depth is perfect. i also like the thin-medium girdle. of course the angles are perfection, so it came down to depth, table and girdle as deciding factors for me.
that''s the winner!

Yes, based on what I know, #2 would be great. Though I must admit that #4 looks pretty good as well. What do you think of #4?

Truthfully, they are all just excellent! You cannot go wrong with any of them. I like the one Belle liked (#2), and in addition to what she said, I like the G VS1 combo. If this was for me, though, I''d get number 4, because I really don''t desire to have 2 cts. and I think the 1.79 is a great value at $10,000 less than the others. But if your GF is wanting a 2 ct., don''t go smaller if you can afford it now.

We have looked together and she will be happy with anything between 1.5 and 2 (I think she things she is getting a 1.5). I kinda wanted to surprise her and go with the 2 carat, but I am having second thoughts because the 1.79 is in the range and is a good value. Do you think the 1.79 would perform as well as the others?

oh wow.... you didn''t have the links up when i looked before.
i would *definitely* consider saving 10k

and going with a smaller size.
the 2ct. would be jaw dropping, no doubt but 10k is a lot of dough.
you can''t go wrong with any of them. pick something you are comfortable with.

I have a 1.63 stone by the same cutter, and they are some of the most well cut stones. I wish I had some good pictures of mine to show you but I only have a few! I honestly would be upgrading to that stone myself if I weren''t a little self-conscious about size! I think it''s all dependent on your desired budget. #2 is wonderful for the 2 ct. size and #4 is great for under 2 cts.

Whatever you decide, please come back and show us the ring! You''ve selected beautiful diamonds!!!

self-concious in that you think it is too big for you?

If you and she are not dead set on 2 cts., I''d definitely get the 1.79, it''s a beaut, great size, and you''ll save a nice chunk of change. If for some reason down the line it shrinks

, he''s got a great upgrade policy.

Does GOG offer a discount to pricescopers like WF does?

As far as I know, they only offer a discount if you wire transfer the payment.

That is an unusual condition here

... (Ellen and I are possibly the only two!)..but yes, I wore a 1 ct. engagement ring for a long time and I am still adjusting to the jump to 1.63 (I''ve only had it a week or two)! But I think 1.79 is wonderful for a lifetime..she''s a lucky girl to get a stone of that quality and size for her original e-ring!

I wholeheartedly agree!! I wore a 1 ct for years and within the last month upgraded to a 1.75. I was torn between a 1.5 and a 1.75. I was truly worried the 1.75 would look too big. I''m of course glad I went with the 1.75, but interestingly, when people comment on it, they think it is 2.0. I guess everyone is different - she *may* feel self conscious witha 2.0 honker. She will definately notice the size of the 1.75 and you would save some big bucks. Good luck! I also agree - she is very lucky!
