I been dealing with someone from Union Diamond and James Allen and they have been a lot of help however Im torn between 2. I dont have any pics but I have the info, I also have been comparing them on the proportions chart, to see whcih one was best, but Im not to familar with it any help would be greatly appreciated thanks. Both GIA certified

Diamond 1
Ideal cut 1.81 G-Color 62.9 depth 62 table VS2 thick-extr thick girdle- which I heard was good to have for emerald? 1.36 l/w ratio

Diamond 2
Very Good cut 1.73 G-color 68.5 depth 66 table VVS2 thick girdle 1.40 l/w ratio

They are within $500 of each other just confused with depths and tables thankyou

I really don''t know other than I know cut is the most important... so the ideal might be best. *maybe*. lol. Someone else can definitely tell you better than I can.

*M*

In addition to pictures, which are a MUST have, for emerald cuts, it'd be nice to have more details. Just the table and depth numbers are not sufficient. Please provide all the following:

Diamond 1
Ideal cut (says who?)
1.81 G VS2
62.9 depth
62 table
thick-extr thick girdle (not keen on having so much weight hidden in the girdle - medium would be fine)
1.36 l/w ratio (dimension?)
crown height? A higher crown height of at least 10% will give the EC more fire.
crown angle?
pavilon angle?
Polish?
Symmetry?

If this is EC is from James Allen, have Jim take an actual picture of the stone to see the facet/step arrangement, run a Sarin report to get the other numbers to answer my questions on blue print, and take an Idealscope picture for light performance. I don't think Union Diamond has a Sarin machine or Idealscope but they should be able to provide you a picture of the EC. If they cannot, I would not buy from them. You CANNOT buy fancy cut diamonds sight unseen because numbers do not tell the entire picture. The numbers may be perfect, but the EC may not perform as expected because there are just too many facets/steps to take into consideration. The numbers on the cert is just a starting point to help eliminate the duds.

Diamond 2
Very Good cut (says who?)
1.73 G-color VVS2
68.5 depth
66 table
thick girdle (not keen on having so much weight hidden in the girdle, but better than extremely thick)
1.40 l/w ratio
(dimension?)
crown height? A higher crown height of at least 10% will give the EC more fire.
crown angle?
pavilon angle?
Polish?
Symmetry?

Just the same as the above, get all the requested information. Until then, no one can tell which stone is a better performing (sparkling/fireball) EC.
