Hello all,

I’d appreciate your thoughts. I''m buying a loose diamond to put in a platinum solitaire engagement setting for my future bride. I have two GIA-certified, eye-clean SI2 stones in mind: one’s a G, the other is a D.

Diamond 1: a 1.67ct, G-color round brilliant, 7.58 x 7.61 mm in diameter, Excellent cut, Very Good polish, Excellent symmetry, medium faceted girdle. 61.8% depth, 56% table, 35° crown angle, 40.6° pavilion angle, no culet. HCA score: 0.9. Wire price: $8,962

Diamond 2: a 1.68ct, D-color round brilliant, 7.67 x 7.69 mm in diameter, Very Good cut, Very Good polish, Excellent symmetry, slightly thick to thick faceted girdle. 60% depth, 58% table, 34° crown angle, 40.4° pavilion angle, no culet. HCA score: 0.7. Wire price: $10,525

Does either of these strike you as the better value?

Thanks a mil,
LaJolla

Prefer #1 in terms of cut but still best to check it out with an Idealscope image.

Thanks for your responses, Lorelei and Stone-Cold11. After reading your response, Lorelei, I emailed and left a phone message with the vendor asking if he could send me Ideal-scope images. I''m waiting to hear, but I think it''s significant that you both preferred Diamond #1. So does the vendor.
