Please help me choose the perfect stone

I am looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend of 2 years and I am having a hard time knowing where to go.

My budget is somewhere around $5000 (give or take a few hundred) and I'm trying to decide where I should put priority in terms of the 4 Cs.

I know she wants a Princess Cut Solitary ring and she has a small finger (size 4) so the caret doesn't have to be too big. I was thinking something between .75 and 1 CT. As for the rest, I just want to get the ring that will look the best and have the best overall quality for the price.

Any advice?

A top cut, with F/G/H color, and VS2/SI1 clarity, is a good starting point.
