Hi,

New forum user and have been doing some research to help int he purchase of an engagement ring.

I am choosing between these two stones, both are to be set in an 18k six prong 2.4mm tapered solitaire setting. I would really like to know which one should sparkle the most. Due to my remote location I can't see them but have 30 days to return if they are not acceptable. Please excuse the small budget and small stones

I know its hard to tell, but which would you think will look better on paper? It is to go on a relatively thin finger with a size of 5US

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer

Thank you very much

Interesting. What shape are these? What is the price?

Sorry......

they are both cushion cut and a priced at around the $850 mark with the .50 diamond being roughly $50 more expensive

Are you sure the table/depths arent backwards? Usually the table is smaller than the depth.

What is your budget? Have you looked at James Allen? They have some that look like they might be in your price
range. You can also request an aset image of up to 3 stones. We cant tell you much on the info you have given
us. We need images/asets. I'm not feeling too positive about the two you listed. Have you seen them in person?
We can recommend a few if you give us your budget. Can you go $1k?

Wow,

Thank you both for the links, I had not found that particular store. The pics are great to help choose. Unfortunately I did not get the depth and table backward,it seems they are quite quite wide diamonds with not a lot of depth. There are also no photos of the diamonds to view before purchase which I didn't think would be too bad with the return policy.

I am still learning, but how would this affect its brightness if the cut is still considered very good or good? There are so many factors that make picking a nice diamond it gets kind of confusing so I assume its a matter of compromise.

When its an SI1 diamond on the site and you can see slight imperfections will that be visible when the stone is set? As I thought SI1 was considered eye clean?

Thank you for taking the time to help. I could have bought what I assume would be not very good looking diamonds.

Anyone can say a stone has very good cut, or good cut. There are no official standards.

Most SI1s are eye-clean, but eye-clean means with your naked eye (20/20 vision) from a distance of 8-10 inches. The pictures are magnified 20-40x, and are not used to judged the eye-cleanliness of a diamond. Usually a customer asks the staff if the diamond is eye-clean.

Good idea to ask if its eye clean,
I have been doing some more shopping around and in my price range found this.....

Grading Lab: GIA
Carat weight: 0.63

I have requested photos of the diamond but is this on the right track? Price is $909 I'm a little worried about the I colour and it looking a touch yellow. Again thanks for all your help

Upload the pictures when you get them.

I think it is ok to nice, but a little bit dark in some areas and leaky in others. Also, the ratio doesn't look like 1.17 to me? I color should be fine, maybe a hint of color in some situations
