I am getting ready to purchase a stone within the next couple of days! I have narrowed it down to these four stones, but dont feel I can make an intelligent decision without some expert advice.

They are as follows:

1) .91ct, D, SI1, GIA, $3,300, polish good, symmetry very good, 63.2 / 58 depth/table, girdle TK-VTK, 7.35x5.41x3.42

2) .90ct, D, SI1, GIA, $3,265, polish good, symmetry very good, 60.8 / 55 depth/table, girdle TN-M, 7.55x5.48x3.33

3) .91ct, E, SI1, GIA, $3,000, polish excellent, symmetry good, 61.8 / 57 depth/table, girdle M-STK FAC, 7.80/5.45x3.37

4) 1.0ct, G, SI1, GIA, $3,020, polish good, symmetry good, 63.3 / 58 depth/table, girdle TK-VTK, 7.71x5.48x3.47

None of the above mentioned stones has any fluorescence. They're all around a 1.4:1 oval ratio. They are all eye clean. I am not positive whether the G has a noticeable yellowish tint or not. I prefer color and beauty over size. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks so much for all of your help,

-Sinj

P.S. If I left out any important info, let me know and I will add it!

Number 3 seems like a good balance of great color, great proportions and good price. I'm no expert but it gets my vote.

Really, #3? I know it has EX polish, but the symmetry is good compared to very good in some of the others. Is that not a big deal? Not sure.

Thanks for the reply

edit: What do you think of a thick girdle as compared to say, a medium? Is the only "bad" thing about having a very thick girdle that the stone will look smaller?

I don't think there's a huge difference between very good and good symmetry to the unaided eye. At least my unaided eye couldn't tell the difference when I was shopping for my diamond. The excellent polish is a plus as well as the diamond having a depth under 63% making it a class 1A. the girdle isn't too thin or too thick at a medium to slightly thick. Just sounds like a great balance of all factors at a really good price. Again, just my opinion. I love ovals by the way, they are so elegant. From what I know the only drawback to a very thick girdle is the wasted carat weight possibly making the stone look smaller.

I agree, and I've narrowed my choices down further to #1 and #3. I just do not understand why #3 is $300 dollars less than #1! I sent an email today asking what he thinks makes the price difference, but got no reply as I sent it fairly late in the afternoon. Oh well, hopefully will hear back from him on Monday so I can get my diamond ordered!

I'm leaning toward #3 right now, but will definitely wait for his reply. How am I going to get through the weekend! D:

Perhaps the $300 comes in the color difference between a D and an E. Diamond #3 also faces up slightly larger because of the difference in depth. Good luck, let me know your final decision.
