hey guys I was looking at this diamond on the dirtcheapdiamonds.com and I found this nice stone... now I like its number and the ideal-scope looks great.. the only 2 problems that bother me are...

1. pinpoint in the center of the stone- on the GIA report it looks tiny but would it be visible or felt with a touch, also will it affect the stone in the long run?

2. extra facet in the corner of the stone.. im afraid that i will have a problem with the setting.. or am i too paranoid??

here is the link to the stone..

Call the vendor and ask him what it is about this stone which should make you want to buy it. Maybe you can get an idealscope pic.

What is telling you that this is the one?

I don't know enough about princess cuts to give you cut advice, but I can almost guarantee that in a VVS stone, no pinpoint is going to be visible or tactile or any kind of problem. I would call Jim Schultz and discuss the stone with him. I agree with RA -- ask for an idealscope picture, and then, if you think this is it, have it sent to an independent appraiser for an objective evaluation. Many people (me included) would trade down in clarity in order to be able to either trade up in size or color or pocket some of the savings. Is there a reason you are looking at a vvs clarity stone? You can probably go to a Si1 level safely ifyou are careful. Also, you can check the AGA charts for guidlines on princess cut specs at www.gemadvisers.com,

I feel like i won`t get all that brilliance and fire with a lower quality stone...Is it true?

No one can tell the difference in brilliance and fire between SI1 and Flawless - no one!

I would ask to see an ideal-scope photo - that is a normal photo and does not say much.
The stone does not have a really big spread - but the very thick gidle means it is unlikely to ever chip - a big risk with princess cuts

Garry i posted the ideal-scope in the other post and you looked at it and said that it looks good.. Problem is that they don`t have any SI1 stones in that size and similar specs...

Why don''t you get Jim at DCD to look around for a stone with your criteria. There ae several listed stones that might be nice. (Again -- I can''t really be a judge or princess cuts), but for ex. this one might be a good alternative, but you would need to have him bring it in an look at it. The girdle info isn''t listed, but it''s a little bit bigger and a little bit cheaper.

Otherwise, it looks as if you have found a nice stone if Garry thougth the idealscope picture looked good. You''re just paying for some clarity that you can''t see. Not the end of the world if everything is suits your desires.

lop i do like the specs on this one also.. I emailed Jim to send me an ideal-scope pic. if he can, that is a good price for a diamond like that.. If this one will have same brilliance and fire as the other one i`ll buy this one, hey i`ll be saving $300.00 on it.. I don`t care if it is SI1 or VS1 as long as there is the same brilliance and fire or at least simillar..

lop I was told that diamond was unavailable.. now are you good with the ideal-scope also??

Garry is the creater of the Idealscope -- trust his advice. I''m a clutz with it -- especially on Princesses.

Listed stones go quickly. You''ve found a nice one. Talk to Jim and see if he has any other suggestions, or give a couple of other vendors a call and see if tey have anything in the lines you are looking for.
