I really appreciate this forum. Keep up the fantastic work.

Please let me know what you think about this deal.

Round 1.02 ct.
The cut is 6.43x6.49x3.98
SI1 EGL certified
H color
medium thickness girdle
very good polish
very good symmetry
no flourecense

Few inclusion on the top that are very hard to spot with a 10x loupe.
(though I am an amateur at spotting them)

Price of diamond: $5200

Thanks,
Colin

I would run a comparision through the price comparision and see what you find.

On the diamond search, there are similarly sized, EGL certed stones for 3900-4400......either way, the one you are reviewing is on the high end of price.......Do you know anything about the cut???? That is what really counts in order to make for a nice, bright diamond.....

yes what about the cut?? Have you seen this stone, or is this from an online vendor?? The price is high,
IMHO.

It does seem high compared to other diamonds with the criteria you've posted - we are not able to evaluate cut based on this info.

If you provide more info, you'll get more input.

A sarin report will give you the all-important crown and pavilion angles. You can find depth % and table % on the EGL document.

By the way, welcome to PriceScope

I''ve seen the diamond and the cut looks very good. Measured dimension look good also.
I''ve shopped around and this stone is comparable to a GIA VS2/SI1 inclusion-wise.

The Jeweler tells me it should be an EGL VS2 and I agree also after looking at ~20 diamonds.
What do you think?

We still need more info or we can''t help much.

When running a cut quality search of 1.02 dias., many of them have a min diameter of 6.51 or more (unless they are deeper cut....)

i too agree we need more info but I agree with maxine that the diameter is less than it should be for a well cut 1 carat stone. you''ll be paying for the 1 carat mark but it will face up smaller.

Seems a bit pricey for an EGL... You should remember that EGL are not "worse" than GIA, but only offer a more "relaxed" grading scale.

I agree...We are purchasing a stone that was originally graded by EGL as a "D, VVS2" but when graded according to GIA approx. standards, rated a "D, VS1"...Not much of a difference but still there was one.
