I want to talk metals! I’m designing a new piece and I need info. I had a platinum ring years ago (Tacori) and it seriously had dents and scratches after a week. I like that platinum doesn’t thin over time so I’m considering it again. Im also curious about unplated white gold if anyone has it and feedback. I’m usually a 14k girl because it’s the most durable but 18k seems to be the thing now from a lot of designers. Thoughts on 14k vs 18k? and on platinum? I’m considering a two tone setting so yellow gold shank, platinum or white gold (possibly unplated) bezel. I want this to be a quality and durable piece that I can pass down for generations.

18ct white gold, unplated, which I had previously is reasonably “yellowish” in tone. I don’t like full platinum rings, I don’t like the colour BUT in your case I think a Platinum Head with yellow gold shank is better. Platinum is a stronger metal, the prongs hold up better long term than 18ct gold which is more malleable.
