Platinum setting -- becoming dull over time?

So I bought two diamond settings, one is 900 platinum and another 950 platinum. The 900 platinum started out as a somewhat matte look and now looks quite dull. The 950 I just got recently and it has a high polish. Do you guys have any idea whether the 950 platinum will actually become dull over time and if yes will it be easy to polish it back to a high shine?

Hi dantm. "Patina" is a nicer way of putting it.

My e-ring is 950 and with a lot of wear, it has gotten more matte looking. When I asked about the wear, I was told that I can take it to be polished and it will regain its shine. Some people do that every year or so, from what I understand.

how quickly the rings patina depends on the alloy - my old plain wb was 950(ru) and the patina took much longer to form than on the plain shank of my (ir) Ering. Your jeweller can polish the ring back to its original shiny self easily
