Platinum and Diamond Cleaning

What is a good way to clean a diamond/platinum ring? Any household items that will make it sparkle? I heard straight HOT water works fine, but will it really make it sparkle?

ammonia and water seems to work well for me.

I use spray window cleaner and a soft brush.

I am going on a trip and need something that would be available in a hotel lobby shop or in room. Does the plain old HOT water work?

What about soap and water (Although I would think that this wouldnt make it **shine**)

You need to use some type of soap/detergent to cut the cling on grease. Pack a toothbrush to help the cleanng effort! Cindy

I'd try a touch of shampoo while on your trip. Shampoos are all detergent based and will break up the oil.

Rinse well.
