Pitfalls of buying online?

Hi all,

I'm a first time buyer and I actually prefer buying online, but there's a definite pitfall with it. When I received my diamond, I have no idea how it would stack up to other diamonds. I realize that I only have 30 days to find out, so what should I do? Go to Tiffany and ask to see them side by side to my super ideal H&A?

For those who purchased online--how did you gain the confidence that yours is in fact a superb diamond?

Why wouldn't they?

Just go in with it. Be prepared they might be a bit snotty. But who cares?

And tell them you want to compare your stone to theirs and see what you think.

After I bought my daughter a H&A online we took it to the local HOF dealer and did a comparison. Be warned - even though it was obvious that her online stone was more beautiful [and and better numbers], the dealer explained how HOF was a far superior diamond.

[If you are worried about finding a superior diamond, go with a top-of-the-line cut recommended on PS. You cannot go wrong.]

Funny, I did that with my wife's GOG H&A stone and the HoF dealer was speechless...
