There are 2 pinpoints and a cloud under the table on the reference diagram provided by GIA. The stone is an SI-1 Clarity. Would the pinpoints be easily seen WITHOUT magnification?

I bought an SI-2 stone from Bluenile. it had a white feather inclusion right under the table that was fairly easy to see. going up to an SI-1 clarity make a difference in the visibility of a pinpoint? the si-2 stone i bought really bugged me. i know that a feather and pinpoint are very different but im curious to know whether or not it will be easily seen without magnification.

I have the choice to buy a...

G, SI 1 clarity, Ex cut, 1.55 carat for 9900 or

F, SI 1 clarity, Ex cut, 1.6 carat for 11000

which one would you choose?

Ask your vendor to eyeball it - there is no way for us to say for sure without seeing the stone.
And btw, an Si1 does mean..slightly included. So its natural to expect some inclusions. If accurately graded by GIA, chances are they will not be easily eye visible - but there''s only one way to find out!

I agree. Do get your vendor to look at it though. If you''re not comfortable, then maybe go to VS.

As the others have mentioned, it''s hard to say without actually looking at it. If the stone is from WF, JA, or GOG have them look at it and let you know if it is eye clean and from how far away. If it''s from BN they won''t be able to look at it in person given the nature of the vendor. In that case you''ll have to decide whether it''s worth it to risk it or to go with someone else who can look at it or go with a VS2 from BN.

Right, unless it''s from their Signature Collection. I believe those are on site.

However, others have been told an SI1 was eyeclean, and it wasn''t. So it''s still a gamble on SI''s.

In my mom''s GIA VS2 1 ct RB I can see the pinpoints wthout having to look too hard... And then I have a smaller RB that''s an I1 that i really have to work to see the carbon in.
