Hi all,

I have about $1000 to spend on an engagement ring. My girlfriend really likes Sapphires (lucky me, they're not as expensive as Diamonds :) )

Now she has mentioned that she would love something like this:

The good thing is it is in my budget. The bad thing is, I have no clue if that is a good price or if I might get more value for the dollars.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thank you!

My concerns are two-fold:
1. That is a stock picture so the item you will receive may not look as pictured.
2. There is no standardized A, AA, AAA grading so it will vary from store to store.
3. White sapphires are sparkly in a very different way - they are just white. Few will mistake them as diamonds.

5.5 mm-ish untreated pink sapphires from $145 to $200

Spinel is almost always untreated and durable enough for everyday wear.

This leaves you with $800 for the setting. Plop it into a halo or something you like within budget.

(you'll need to upgrade the diamond melees with this vendor to ensure white and clean diamonds).
